Yes! I recieved my letter via e-mail on Saturday morning. I don't remember anything about preference to in-state students. Good luck. I'm sure they are still sending out more letters especially with others such as myself declining the offer.

I interviewed on Friday. Even though UIC is well known, I was very unimpressed with the interview process. I felt like a number. They seemed to only care if they thought I would fit at UIC, not about if I thought I would fit there.
A major factor in my decision is their method of instruction. A P1 explained that you don't have 1 professor for each class. Different profs teach you each couple of days in their area of expertise. Although this may sound good on the surface, I cant imagine never getting to know my professors. What I love about my current institution is that the professors doors are always open and most love to talk to you about your career goals and help you to achieve them. At UIC it seems that they are seeking students to help them with UIC goals, not to help the students with their own. If I am going to put myself $150,000 in debt, I not only want a good education and strong institution, but I also want great experiences along the way. I dont want to be a number.
If they cared about attracting me to UIC, at least the associate Dean should have addressed the applicants in a formal manner and explained the program and answered our questions. Rushing me from the writing sample, to my interview, and then giving me a tour of the hallways isnt very impressive. Besides the great reputation of UIC and its location in the medical district, was there anything that impressed you?

Wow....So have you decided where you want to go yet?
Personally, I was kind of disappointed that there was no campus tour. The info. section was pretty brief, and they didn't provide any information about the program or the school at all. However, I still hope I will get in since it is only four hours away from home.

I havent decided where I plan to go yet. Im still waiting on a few school's decisions before I decide. I applied to all out-of-state schools and private schools, so my decision might come down to which can offer me the most financial aid.
I'm also not too far from UIC, about 5 hours. But I figured with that drive time, its about the same to just hop on a plane and come home.

yeah..I heard about the rotating professors from the students. I asked one of the student ambassors to show me around so I was able to see some labs, the computer room, the student center, and the SSR (single student residence hall). Overall very informal, but I thought that was just to put us at ease. The only problem I had was with my interview. The person they thought was suppose to interview me, apparently wasn't interviewing me. So they put me with a pharmacist over at the ACC pharmacy since her person didn't show up. Everything else that I had questions about the P1 and P2 answered for me.
They won't start giving out offers to wait listers until May. They do accept slightly more people than capacity because they know a certain number will decline. They want to see how it settles. Last year, acceptances were made to 25 wait listers.Gilmore2B said:Yes! I recieved my letter via e-mail on Saturday morning. I don't remember anything about preference to in-state students. They do give preference if in staters by giving them an extra in-state point bonus.
You can easily get in to talk with most of your professors. Most of them have either open offices, office hours, or it is very easy to make an appointment by e-mail.
Good luck.

Do you know when they finish accepting people from the list?

They accept people up until classes begin in August. They said they once called someone in California the Thursday before classes begin. She accepted and was present by the first Monday.linyliny88 said:Do you know when they finish accepting people from the list?

thank you so much for the insights. I feel so bad that I am on the alternative list. I have a 93 PCAT, and a BS in bioEnigneering with 3.1 GPA. and uic is my first choice since I really want to stay in Chicago with my family and my boyfriend even though my undergrad exprience is not too present. Now all I can do now is WAIT.... I have been waiting too long.
Congradulations to those got accepted.
