since late august actually. how about you?
 
I called and talked to someone who was very helpful...she said that your status does change from application to applicant in process, and if during that review they dont want to interview you at this time they just change you back to application in progress. Hence, I went through that cycle, called and she said that as of now I wasnt being offered an interview, but they could extend an offer later in the season (though I wont hold my breath). They apparently dont place you on hold there, just keep cycling you through if they re-review your file.

still "application in process"...i'm guessing they haven't reviewed me yet...complete 9/19
 
well, i guess i'm under review then if it still says "applicant" vs. "application". it seems as if i've been under review a loooooooooong time. but i guess at least it didn't go back to applicant. so i got that going for me. which is nice.
 
I had been complete since early august before I received an interview (today). good luck!

Application in process = you have been reviewed and passed over for now
 
for those who got an acceptance today...

i'm assuming your status changed right? no email or letter at your house?
 
Hey Cac08, how did you find out about your interview invite? Did your status change online or did you receive some sort of email or snail mail notification? thanks.

Hey, I just checked my status page today and it had (FINALLY) changed. They do not email you when your status changes or you receive and invite. They say that they send a snail mail letter to your address, but from what I've heard, in the past those letters had a tendency to not make it. I'd keep checking your status pages! Good luck! It seems like they're taking a while to get back to people this year.
 
i was complete probably in mid-august and got the invite over the weekend by snail mail.
 
after it changes from "application is in process" to "applicant in process" it usually takes two weeks for the committee to review you. Cross your fingers when it becomes applicant because two weeks afterwards you either get your interview (they really like you) or you get cycled over and over again..mine is gonna get sent soon! 🙂

My status page changed to "applicant in process" very quickly and then stayed there for over a month, maybe two. That quick turnaround time might not necessarily be true for all applicants.
 
Well I called UIC last Thursday and someone on the adcom told me that its usually 2 weeks but i guess for the sake of UIC just keep checking your status!

hey utahjazz i see that you were completed at UIC on the 11th of this month, don't expected to be reviewed for at least another 1.5 months. I think they are currently reviewing applications that were completed in the beginning of September. best of luck to you this application cycle

Hey guys-
i am a current m1 at uic com chicago track right now, basically...the wait and process is long and draining but itll end soon enuf! UIC is kind of strange in how it hands out interviews b/c ppl who were complete long after me got interviews before me. But realize that UIC is pretty good with its process so as long as you got ure secondary in by end of August I d say ure in good shape to hear before December for an interview. You want to get in before Feb if u want to be at the Chicago campus. And remember it DOES NOT matter what site u interview at. I am living proof...i interviewd in peoria but i m in Chicago. Just take the earliest date possible. If any1 has questions feel free to ask me. I ll do what i can to help.
 
if you dont mind me asking how is uic com? im at uic undergrad now and UIC com is my top choice...any word of advice?
 
do you get to choose the campus? because peoria, rockford, and champaign are not options for me.

Yes you get to choose. But his point is that damn near everybody chooses Chicago as their first choice and that campus fills up by February, so if you're not in there, expect to get one of the others.

At the other 3 campuses, everybody goes to Champaign for M1 and then go to their other campuses for years 2, 3, and 4. For what it's worth, at my Rockford-based interview last year, everybody really emphasized that they were very happy at their campus despite initial frustration/disappointment. If you're OOS I understand your discrimination toward the other campuses more.
 
P.S...I'm Application in process. Let's go UIC...grant me an interview please! :luck:
 
I just checked my status page (I interviewed in October), and it says a decision has been made on my application. It does not say what the decision was, just that it will come in the mail in about 2 weeks. Anyone else have it changed and did it say the same thing?

Yup. I interviewed in mid-Sept, and my page just changed to:

"A final decision was made on your application on 10-25-07. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone."

The committee meets during the third week of each month, so apparently they reviewed all of the Sept & completed Oct interviews this week. Guess we have to just sit tight now and wait. I remember them saying that we should receive our letters sometime around the end of October, or early November.
 
last year the consensus (in march so later in the cycle) was that a decision has been made is an acceptance. they told us at my interview that they weren't rejecting anyone for the year yet so those notified were accepted. if the trend is the same for this year guess you guys can add another acceptance notch to the belt. way to go

Awesome - I hope you're right. I live very close to UIC, so for those of you who live across the country, check back here and I'll post when I get the letter. 🙂
 
looks like good news for you guys. I interviewed two days ago and was hoping that I was still in time to get evaluated at this month's meeting. I'm hoping i just wasn't in time... anyone that interview on the 23rd have a status change? I'm sooo tired of waiting.
 
Last year that DEFINITELY meant an acceptance until the very very end (around June). This seems like it's going to be the UIC thread this year, so let me send the first of many congratulations to come on this thread.

I think they grant interviews more often than once a month, though I also don't know.

From what I can tell, its in spurts, like a bunch per day for 2 or 3 days in a row, and this happens every two weeks. I know this is how it was in September.
 
I interviewed Oct 11th, and got the same status change today, my question is, if it was definitely the case last year that people who got the message got acceptances, what message was displayed for people who didn't get accepted? Reason I ask is because the dean said that we would all get a letter at the end of the month, but that the letter would either say "accepted" or "on hold." I'm soooooooo nervous about this, UIC is my top choice and I have a family so moving somewhere is not what I would prefer to do. Come on, snail mail! 🙁

Same here. I can walk there.
Since I read this thread and checked my status to see the 'wait for the mail' thing I can't seem to stop my heart from racing. I hope that it does mean an acceptance because I really liked UIC!
 
last year it only changed if accepted. I didn't receive a letter last year and my status never changed. however the dean said we would know because if our status changed we were accepted and if not we were on hold. so based on last year a decision has been made = acceptance. no status change = hold and this seemed true for everyone on sdn that posted. take it for what you will

That being said, definitely hoping the Oct 23rd/24th bunch of interviewees haven't been evaluated yet.

Funny how doing the obvious always fails to cross my mind... good thing I wanna be a Doctor. Oct 23rd interviewees won't be notified until late November/early December according to the office. Looks like another 6 weeks of wait time 🙄.

Does anyone know, if you're put on hold, are you reviewed again at the next month's admissions committee meeting, or are you put on hold until the end of it all? Thanks!

I think they review you again next month, but I'm not 100% sure.

Lol, it's all good. At least your stomach will be spared some jumping jacks for the next week or so, unlike mine. Hope things work out for you at the end of next month!
