Does anyone know for sure if UIC is looking at the post interviews papers today??? This waiting game is driving me crazy!
 
Yes, I believe they are meeting today! I am also waiting to find out whether I have been accepted or not!
 
i interviewed just last week, would my decision be made too??😕
they told me 3 weeks though..
 
I am waiting for their decision as well...it is definitely scary knowing that the decision is going to be made today. How soon will we know what the decision is? Can anyone tell us how soon they found out after the adcom meeting? Thanks!
 
i called today to check my status and was told a preliminary decision had been made but that a final decision would be made today.....does anyone know if this is a good thing or a bad thing? it would be nice to prep myself either way...heck i am even willing to travel my behind out to rockford 🙂
 
Just watch your status pages, folks. That'll be the earliest indication of how it went. Status changes seem to take 2-3 days after the committee meets. Good luck to all of you!
 
2-3 (business im guessing) days would be like tues-wed next week...waiting sucks
 
i think it can be updated on the weekends too. i'm expecting a change on saturday or sunday (or i hope at least!)

sorry, these may have already been asked but

- what is the status message if you are rejected?

- how accurate is it that when you get the "final decision has been made on ---" message, it means you are accepted?

i think if it still says pending ur on a waiting list. anything else is good news.

today walking around work it was weird knowing someone downstairs was deciding our future, kinda freaky.


so they wont update them friday???

has anybody been waitlisted and then accepted during the next round of reviewing? i'm wondering when all the waitlisted ppl get their second shot...

Last month, and in most months really (that aren't screwed up by Thanksgiving or Christmas) the status changes the Friday after their meeting. Of course this could take longer as Zip said, so please don't start freaking out until someone posts on here a status change.

This isn't accurate. If your status doesn't change over the next several days, *and somebody else's does* it would be more accurate to say that your application was "deferred." I received an email from UIC shortly after everybody's status changes happened last month saying "your file is still under consideration and will be reviewed every month until the end of the cycle." That is, there are no waitlists right now--I think they develop one after May 15 and that's when post-interview rejections and waitslist placements happen.

if your application was "deferred" the first time around, then they don't actually review your application every month. They say that your application "went to the committee" but when you ask them if they actually looked at it, then they say no. My interview was in november and since then they haven't actually looked at my application again even though it does "go to the committee" the third thursday of each month. One of the admissions counselors finally admitted that those applicants who dont receive a decision right away are actually not considered again until the end of the admissions season in late may. At that point (since the class is most likely full), they usually receive a waitlist or rejection. So i think its pretty misleading for them to even say that they do review your application every month or even periodically when they only look at it again at the end of the season.

i'm not 100% sure if what i said is true for EVERY applicant that was deferred, but the counselor said thats how it goes for MOST of them.
 
sounds pretty accurate based on last cycle... it seemed everybody who waited months and months post interviw ended up with a rejection letter... only a few were accepted or wl in may... just my experience last year

dont get upset that you didnt get a status change yet. only get upset when you see others posting on here that they DID get a status change. Until then, nobody knows! I wish you all all the best! :luck::hardy:

argh...all this waiting is killing me...i hope they actually end up changing it today...so i'm not a nervous wreck all weekend!

If no one in your group has yet posted that their status page was changed to "a final decision has been made," then none of you should consider yourselves waitlisted or deferred yet. No need to jump the gun on that.
 
How long does it take for them to make a decision after the interview?
 
I have yet to hear anything either, so we are all in good, uninformed company🙂
 
Well I think they closed the office by now. Do you guys anyone that doesnt use SDN that got a status change? Maybe they still didnt update the website.
 
Since no one has had a status change on SDN yet, I am assuming they did not update anyone's status today. Maybe they will tomorrow or on Monday!

sometimes you'll get the status change on Saturday because thats when the system might be updated. the reason maybe because they dont want to talk to angry pre-meds who did not get a status change...so they proally want people to cool off before calling the office. so that maybe a possibility.

when i was waiting for a status change, someone who got accepted before I did, from the previous adcom meeting, said that they got the status change only on Saturday...but i ended up getting it later in the day on Friday (close to 5pm).

so hang in there...trust me, as soon as someone gets a status change, they will post here. if you get a status change, be sure to post here too as im sure others are eagerly waiting! 🙂 goodluck guys

Hey UIC brethren. Sorry to veer away from the fiendish status checking trend, but I have different question. As far I knew I did not complete the psychology requirement needed for matriculation to UIC, but no one has yet contacted me about fulfilling it. Can I get away with not taking it? Has anyone else been contacted about fulfilling prereqs? Thanks!

They may not contact you. You're expected to know and fulfill all of their prerequisites prior to matriculation, Psychology included. I would not recommend hoping they don't notice. Good luck!
 
On the Psych class thing, if they haven't bugged you about it, I wouldn't worry. They aren't going to kick you out of the class because you didn't take an extra psychology course. They actually just changed the requirement this year to make 2 pysch classes mandatory; last year you could have any mix and 3 pysch/social scienes class that you wanted.

Bringing it back to the status check stuff, did anybody actually call and find out if the AdCom did meet on Thursday? I know I didn't...

The reason I'm asking is that yesterday I did some digging and post/date comparing and found that nearly everyone who post "my status has changed!" had it change on a Friday, usually a little bit after noon. This is making me think that maybe they didn't actually meet and are putting it off until this Thursday, but then again, I could have too much free time on my hands to worry about it 😀.
 
I did the same obsessive analysis, so you are not alone. If they did meet, the update delay may have to do with the fact that they are in the process of changing/updating their website format. This is just a suggestion and I have no evidence, call or otherwise, that they actually met on Thursday. However, I do think they said they were meeting on the 21st when we had our interview.
 
i called on friday, and the lady told me that they had met that thursday. she said to check for the change later that evening, but i obv didnt get a change. She also said to call back on thursday to speak with a councelor..she didnt seem to have too much info about the whole thing...this is really frustrating..🙁

Thanks for the heads up, I figured somebody else had called. It drives me nuts that they didn't change the status page like they usually do, maybe they've caught on to the fact that they are giving away acceptance/waitlist/rejection info by changing it 😕.

I feel your frustration, I hate the waiting part of this process more than anything else 😡.

Yeah, one of my interviewers asked me this too, and another one kept hinting at it so I just told him because it was obvious that he wanted to know. 🙂
