i got the message but without ever receiving a interview, should i be expecting a rejection already?

I thought that rejections weren't sent out until much later. Is it possible that UIC is like MSU and sometimes accepts without interview?

Do you have any special ties with the school? I don't know, keep hope alive!

Oh and congrats to those who got "acceptances" today! Chicago is an awesome city. 🙂

I suppose it is possible that they are rejecting people pre-interview. I just know from my experience what they told us to expect post-interview..as i already mentioned... sorry no help here

Hello. My status page says that a final decision has been made, but I haven't interviewed there yet. What does this mean. is this a rejection?

Hey same here, I found that yesterday. I think we all got the boot...if you guys don't mind, are you IS and what were your stats....I'm 3.76 and 29Q...I can't believe they didn't give me an interview...I got one at Vermont, which is a state school and I'm an out of state candidate!

yea idk wats up with UIC, IS here with a 32P/3.75 haven't heard anything from them yet 😕...

yeah i think my problem was that i was missing one psych class.

Me too buddy... i think we've both been rejected. 🙁

I'd hang in there, bud. UIC is a little slow-starting when it comes to interviews. Unless your essays and ECs are just terrible, I have no doubt you'll interview. Speaking of...I would enjoy an interview invite as well, please, UIC

To those who have received that message pre-interview, I'm pretty sure that does unfortunately mean you'll be getting bad news in the mail. The fact there is no date after "on" is similar to the rejection message I received last June.

To address an issue on the previous page, if you are not accepted after the committee reviews your application post-interivew, your online status remains "Decision Pending". I think I recall getting a letter saying I was on hold, but am not sure. Only when I was rejected in June did my status change to that message (with a blank decision date).

I think so. I'm pretty sure they don't give acceptances without interviews (from what I've heard, MSU's DO school is the only one who does).

I just changed to applicant in progress this afternoon...hopefully some good news in the next couple weeks!!!

Bumping this up just incase, I stayed home from school so I could open the mail as soon as it gets here!:scared:

Man I am scared as heck. My message changed to "final decision has been made" pre-interview. I am guessing its the worst, but I dont know🙁

Those who received that message pre-interview, please keep us updated on what you receive.

My status changed to Applicant in Process today...here's hoping for some good luck. :luck:

Unfortunately, my status has been like that for 2 months or so...so don't get your hopes up too much :scared:

So has anyone heard what the deal with the psych requirement is? I told them I would fulfill it in second semester, and when I called the admissions office, they told me that was fine. I am sure that is what you guys did, but do you guys have any other information?

Ditto, but don't lose faith! I was an applicant in process for almost 2 months and I just recieved an interview a few weeks ago. Good luck everyone!

Just a question guys.

For the stress essay question I thought I had been under the 250 word limit. But I guess when i did some revisions before submitting a final copy I went to 263 words, as I checked it today. Do you guys think they would actually count the number of words. I think being under 250 would be one less line in my one paragraph.

Thanks

Yes they actually count each individual word...I was told by an adcom that this was the number on criteria in handing out interview offers

Mine went from Application in Process to Applicant in Process for about 2-3 weeks. Today it changed back to Application in Process.

I'd consider calling in on a Thursday for a status check.

Just got the letter! I live in Champaign, IL. My first choice! 😀
Yea! Congratulations!!! Omanomanoman, I'm even more nervous now!!! Mail gets here in half an hour or so!!!

Congratulations! And good luck to everybody! What did you guys think of your interview day? I have mine scheduled for December in Chicago.

Does anyone know who the Director of Admissions is at UIC ?

It's really not too bad, the interview feedback is really helpful, bc most of my questions were exactly like the ones that are posted up there. I would say be prepared to answer some questions about the uninsured, especially if you interview in Chicago. Also, be ready for the "tell me about yourself" questions

Just got the letter, my top choice and 1st acceptance!!! See u in Chicago! 😀

Congrats!!!! :hardy::hardy::hardy:

I'm so jealous you guys already got your mail AND were home to check it! My mail isn't usually delivered until 3-4pm! But I will be leaving work early today anyway to go volunteer, so I'll make a stop home to check the mail soon....

Haha, yeah, I stayed home from school today. Thanks to you and to utahjazz!

I got the large white envelope as well! First acceptance and first choice of all the Chicago schools!

Congrats! Too bad it's Monday so you can't celebrate as much. 🙂

*as much* being the operative phrase
my friend is djing at a bar near my house tonight so i think i'll be stopping by...

good luck to everyone who is waiting!
:luck::luck::luck:

i got my large white envelope this evening 👍 they made a decision on my application on 10/26 (friday).

are all of you accepted folk leaning toward Chicago campus? (that is, if you decide to matriculate...)

Congrats everyone that got accepted.. I'm quite anxious/nervous for my interview on the 19th.. Hopefully I'll make the november committee meeting.. Congrats again!

Cool, are you going there for sure?

Errr, not sure. I really loved Loyola as far as Chicago schools go (but need to go back to see it when class is in session and there are actually students around). And there were different things I really loved about Tulane and GWU (and Vermont, although I won't hear back from them for a couple more weeks). I would be incredibly happy at any one of those schools. And finally, I'm ridiculously excited about my upcoming Mayo interview even though the odds of an acceptance are pretty slim.

BUT, when I consider UIC, it's undeniable that the instate tuition, excellent location and fantastic clinical training/3rd&4th years are quite compelling. I'm just not making any decisions yet, basically....

Let me add myself to the growing list of 2012 UICers.

Hopefully someone will start a allo thread and we can all get to know one another.

Awesome, hey, did you interview on the 11th?

for those who got the interview did the interview invite come in the mail? also what did the status page online say prior to recieving your interview? i really need some feedback

the invite came in the mail. but i saw the status page, and called the office, so I scheduled my interview a week before i got the letter prompting me to do so.
the status page changed to show available interview dates at various campuses on a yellow background...

It doesn't say that a final decision has been reached before the interview invite. Sorry.

Ugh, yep I'm guessing that its rejection letters coming...oh well, if they dont like me, at least I can respect them for not keeping me around until March or so, then rejecting me. Now I can move on, and start the mourning/healing process...🙁
