That's interesting/unfortunate. Apparently the committee didn't get to all of the applications in the November meeting. That's good news for you if it's true. I would hope someone answering phone calls at UIC isn't feeding you BS in order to sidestep giving you a definitive answer.

Edit: When you guys interviewed were you told you would receive a decision at the end of November/early December?

i called today as well because i interviewd in nov and it still says decision pending. i was told my application did not reach the committee yet. i dont really know what that means.

I think what Bond is getting at is, did you interview early in November and they happened to not look at your file at the November adcom meeting? Because they might not have gotten to it if you interviewed late in November, and you should be reviewed in the December adcom meeting. I have done a lot of research in various threads about this, and it appears to me that if you interview within a week of that month's adcom meeting, you'll be evaluated at the next month's meeting. That's why I've pretty much given up hope of being evaluated at December's adcom meeting, because I'm interviewing next Wednesday (12/19). I guess I'll have to wait until January! I would call them up though, and really ask for some definitive answers. Good luck!

I woldn't be so sure that they're not meeting the 27th this month. They should tell you when your date should receive a decision the date of your interview. Let us know what they say and how the interview goes.

when i interviewed they clearly told us that the adcom meeting would be on 11/29 and that we should receive a response within the first week of december.

I think one of the posters interviewed 11/14 if I remember correctly. I interviewed the 19th and still made it so I'm not sure what to tell you guys.
That would be me. I interviewed on that day, and I did receive a response.

it's really odd that the committee just "didn't get to a file" this month though. I've never heard that before though I should probably look closer through last year's "wtf uic"

I smell something foul about the whole thing. I hope somebody's not just lying to you to avoid telling you that you're on the waitlist. Either way it sucks.

Judging from other UIC posts, sounds like those that don't get immediate status changes shortly after the monthly adcom meeting didn't get in. UIC must just not want to tell people that for some odd reason, and instead they give you the run-around with "wait for something in the mail." Its total baloney to me and a horrible way to handle the process, but oh well. I say this because I'm in that boat and would much rather just know I didn't get in...

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=346149

the old wtf uic thread. It seems there was some backup as well this time of year last year...

For people who just interviewed in december, when did they say you should expect a decision to be made on you?

end of next week, but we shouldn't expect to actually get anything in the mail until the first week of january due to the holidays (not sure about if/when they will update the status page, but they did say that a change on the status page can reflect an acceptance or a rejection...)

Chicken, when did you interview? I really want to be evaluated next week too!! Damn interview one day before the adcom meeting...

Ok. Well seems to me like last year (and apparently this year) some mid-November interviews didn't have a decision made until the December meeting (their meeting was pretty early in December last year too).

This must be because Thanksgiving makes the November one so late and Christmas makes the December one so early (and they apparently have a holiday break after the December meeting that likely coincides with the students' break) that they kind of mix the two meetings.

Tidy solution. I hope it's right.

status change to "applicant in process" is this a good thing?!!?

ps, i know what ^^ means.. but im just looking for some hope!

Anybody who sent a preference card recently hear back? I sent mine Monday and the mailbox has been dead like shows on NBC.

All quiet on the front. (Though I resent the NBC comment, I'm a fan of 30 Rock...)

haha don't get me wrong, i love NBC...but not the writer's strike

does anyone know if the admissions committee is meeting this thursday or the next??

PlayMeSomeMusic, I haven't. I dropped it off in person the Monday after I received it (12/10). I called last Friday and was rather rudely told they won't give out any information and that I won't hear anything until the letter comes in the mail, which can take up to two weeks. Ugh.

Yup. I called trying to tell them that I was at a different address now... their staff is so rude. Took all of my self control not to be rude back to them...

hey, for those of you guys that were already interviewed and accepted

does it go from "under review" to "decision pending" then to "a decision has been made." ??

or does it go from "under review" directly to "a decision has been made" if you did get accepted?

Thanks!

I think it went to pending. I didn't check my status that often, so I could be wrong, but I do think I had pending before "a decision has been mailed"

I just got back from my interview today (12/19) and thought it went really well. The staff was friendly and the interviews were stress-free and conversational. Overall I was impressed, although the facilities could use some updating, and our tour guide was a little weird... took us on a tour through just the main building, stopping in the Student Activities office - I would have liked to have seen more of the campus, but oh well.

But most importantly, the Dean of Admissions told us that our files wouldn't be reviewed until January - and most likely the people interviewed on the 11th also won't be reviewed until January. He also said that the Chicago campus was not full and they don't expect it to be for a little while.

So it looks like if your interview is within a week of the adcom meeting, you won't get reviewed until the next month's meeting.

Hope this helps! Good luck everyone! Happy Holidays!

with respect to the preference card- I called Monday and was told I should get something in the mail this week. And yeah, she did seem a little pissed... for some reason I thought they'd be nicer to accepted applicants.

Check your online status, folks. If they got your letter of acceptance, your status should now be different. It shows when they got the letter and the deposit and that they are waiting on transcripts and stuff.

I think UIC is rude because they are trying to help us get acquainted with how we will be treated by the patients in Chicago. Maybe "street life" too...
You want it easy, go to Northwestern!

The online status does not inform you what campus you've been assigned to. UIC, in my opinion, is rude because they have no reason to be nice. They're going to fill their seats, and their staff clearly knows it. It's like being at the DMV.

And please, keep the derogatory comments to yourself. I don't know what you have against Feinberg, but I doubt it's "easy."

Today is not my day with regards to conveying sarcasm. Maybe I should just stop. I have nothing against Feinberg. My comment was based on the "preppy" stereotype that NW has.

And you are right, they don't tell you which campus you got. But didn't a previous poster say Chicago wasn't gonna get filled for a while? He got that info from his interview which he had today, so I'm assuming that info is legit.

Sorry to add to a bad day... If it consoles you, I felt really hypocritical telling you to lay off of NU when I was comparing UIC to the DMV in my previous sentence...

Dang, I should have caught that. Not cool! Jk, it's all good.

Thanks for telling us to check the status system though.. I just assumed it was like other places and no longer would be helpful.. so hadn't been checking it.. It makes me feel better knowing they got my deposit even though I had sent it priority and delivery confirmation.. I was a little nervous cause it was delivered at 6:32 in the morning.. and my thoughts were who the heck is in admissions in the morning.. so I was playing out all the various scenarios about how it might just not make it to my file.. Anyways what a rant for a simply thanks huh

adcom is meeting today! Get excited!!! when i interviewed (dec 10th) they told us the adcom would be reviewing our files today, but probably wouldn't get the results mailed until after january 1st.

Anyone received an interview invite recently? I'm still Applicant in Process and just wondering if there has been/will be any invites now that the holiday season is almost upon us. Do you think it is safe to say that there won't be much going on until after the 1st of the year? I bet the application review process slows down over the holidays. Should I call for a status check? Thanks for you input everyone 🙂

It says my "Hepatitis B Form" has not been received. I know we have to provide immunization records, but was the a specific form for Hep B? :d

I'd call them every Thursday from now on that you don't have an interview. And yes, I think it's safe to assume they probably won't be giving out interviews until after a few days into the new year (and even then the interviews will be for late-February, I bet). Keep calling and checking that status, though!

If the Dean said on Dec 19th that the Chicago campus wasn't full and didn't anticipate for it to be full for a bit, I think we can safely end the "Did I get the Chicago campus!? I got my forms in!" freakout-fest 😀. [Edit: for now...]

Considering they're not even reviewing people from the 11th on this ADCOM meeting, I'm hoping/betting they catch up on some of the November interviews they apparently didn't reach a decision on. Frankly, whatever it takes so that a mid-Jan interview gets reviewed in the Jan adcom meeting 🙂.

I was "applicant in process" for about ten days, then checked my status online and received an invite yesterday. So it looks like their handing them out still.

Seeing as how you weren't complete until mid-November, I'd say that you have quite a wait ahead of you. I don't recall even seeing anyone complete in October getting an invite yet.

I know there are many people who check this thread who are in my position...aka "applicant in process". For some reason this thread has turned into uic's post interview thread, but for all of you in my position, here is some information I found out today that might clarify the process a little bit.

So from what i've heard from many people, there is some sort of point system that they use to initially screen you. If your numbers are good, you get through the initial screening and your application gets sent out. If they aren't then you don't even get a chance to get looked at, you get a rejection right away. When your application does get sent out to the committee, it could get sent out to one of several locations, and apparently each one has its own pace. You get reviewed by two people. If both of them agree on the decision, either to grant or not grant and interview, then w/e they agree on is what happens. Now this is what happened to me, apparently if they disagree then it takes another 100 centuries for your application to get reviewed. It gets sent to the dean of admissions and he "mediates" the file. So his decision is the "final" decision. Then the application gets sent back...blah blah and you either get an interview or you don't.

As far as getting reviewed a second time, I've heard that you will get reviewed if you don't get an interview, and I've heard that you don't. But from all the information that I've pieced together, i can say that you probably wont get reviewed again. If it took the committee 2 months to decide on an application, they are not going to have time to spend another two months, may be if they do review you , it might be a maximum of 2 times. So for those of you who are "applicant in process", hang in there! And call them every Thursday to show interest. UIC seems to love interest in their school!

I hope this helps, and anyone who has anything else to add...or correct in my explanation...feel free to because all this information is from what I've heard from the counselors and they can give some varied answers sometimes!

One of my interviewers on the 13th said that they'd review my file today, but maybe he was misinformed. I sure hope not, though!

if you can check the status on the internet.. what is the point of calling?? do the tell you something different?? if so, what is the number to call because it isn't in my email from them.. thanks!
