Hi y'all, just for a little context: I am an OOS student who attended a Kentucky undergrad and while it's early, I am currently interested in pursuing Internal Medicine.

UKCOM-NKY Campus
Pros
  • Small class size (35 students)- more hands on
  • Close to Cincinnati, lots to do
  • Airport close by to visit SO
  • New facilities
  • More opportunities on clinical rotations
  • Pass/Fail
  • Diploma is still from UKCOM, regardless of campus

Cons
  • Branch campus, not main campus
  • Less opportunities for research/extracurriculars (seems most of the opportunities are in Lexington)
  • Lectures are live-streamed from main campus in Lexington, less connections with professors?
  • Less housing options near campus

University of Louisville
Pros
  • Large class size (~160 students)- more opportunities to make friends/extracurriculars
  • Airport close by to visit SO
  • More research opportunities than UKCOM-NKY
  • Large city, lots to do in Louisville
  • Student body seems to be close/friendly (both interviewers commented on it)
  • Nice facilities

Cons
  • HP/P/F grading
  • Maybe less clinical opportunities due to large class size?

Summary: In my opinion, both schools have similar match rates, tuition, cost of living, etc. I am struggling with the fact that while UKCOM as a whole might have a slightly better reputation/prestige/name recognition, I am worried that I will not have the same opportunities at the Northern Kentucky campus for research, EC involvement, and building relationships with professors that I would at ULSOM. Thank you for your help!!

Better to go to Louisville if the Northern Kentucky campus is rather small. I do not know how their clinical rotations are if University of Cincinnati is right across from them.
