UMass Acceptances?

I just received a waitlist letter today, dated 4/25/07. I interviewed in mid-March. The letter was sent to my preferred address in North Carolina, not my permanent address... so if any of you are graduating in May and moving back home, make sure you update the admissions office on your new address.

Well, it could be worse. I got the waitlist letter today. I interviewed back on November 1st.

Any idea how many waitlist spots go out?

Has anyone who interviewed in February received a waitlist letter yet?
 
just got the waitlist letter (november interview). you're right, it could be worse!
i'd love to see any waitlist stats from past years (or info from so far this year, from people who've talked to the admissions office or something).

Haven't gotten anything, but I haven't gotten mail yet...

Good luck everyone! Regarding how many waitlistees...there's been a lot of speculation. I'm under the impression quite a few people get in from waitlist. HOWEVER, I was waitlisted at a certain Boston school last year, and no one got in off waitlist there for the first time in 31 years. Take waitlist lightly, as it's far from a guarantee.

yeah i haven't gotten anything either and I'm from mass too. things don't look so hot.
 
i heard all decisions should be done by tomorrow (May 1)

does no news mean rejection? anyone know if they send all waitlist/acceptances before rejctions? oh man i pray its mixed
 
Got mail...nothing. Oh, a letter from Tulane asking me to consider the PharmD program. I hate crap like that...if I want to be a pharmacist, I'll friggin apply to pharm school!! Ugh...
 
i called admissions today and they said they would be sending out decisions into the middle of may... they also said they are still sending out acceptances. don't know if these are packaged answers to questions, but this is what the woman on the phone told me.
 
I interviewed in Feb and just got a wait list letter in the mail today in CT. Good luck to everyone!

my waitlist letter says that all the spots are filled? I guess people could be declining acceptances before may 15th, though.

I'm so tired of waiting-- at least you guys know how it feels, argh.

I don't know if they're behind but every day that passes makes me more fearful that I am going to be getting a thin envelope that says, "nice try." I get nervous every day on my commute home..

Anyway, congrats to all who were at least waitlisted, at least you know where you stand!
 
in the umass thread from last year, it appears that they send out waitlists before rejections. so rejections come last. that being said, i haven't heard anything myself! which sucks.

Nothing in the mail today once again....BAD NEWS FOR ME, I presume. I do think it's a little unfair of them to hold off on sending rejections for a while. But no waitlist offer does equal the inevitable. Oh well.

I feel like I'm going to be in the same boat as you...especially since my mailing address is in Worcester! I'm not sure what the point is in delaying rejections until after waitlists either...
 
Wait list. postmarked 4/26. Possible acceptance up until August???
Ironic that with every "decision" comes another wait. Anyone know what kind of movement we can expect to see?

I assume you mean 'hear if we've been waitlisted'? I'm concerned that they sent one batch of waitlists out and that's that. It seems everyone who's posted that they've been waitlisted all received letters that were mailed on the 26th.

Can anyone confirm if they're sending out waitlist letters in batch?

My waitlist letter was dated 4/25..so there were at least 2 batches. I wouldn't lose hope just yet though. According to last years thread, people received waitlist letters throughout a 3 week span from 4/14 - 5/4. So I wouldn't be surprised if more letters go out in the next week, especially as some people receiving waitlist letters may decline.

Good luck for those still waiting (to wait).

I called admissions yesterday, the lady I spoke to told me that the adcom is STILL making decisions, so by next week now (how things change every two minutes) everyone should know something. She also said that they are still making ALL decisions. This leads me to at least believe that maybe they're still waiting and updating people who have dropped spots etc since the May 15 deadline is approaching.

To be honest, I'm not losing hope right now that any of us who haven't heard could not only get waitlist option but even a precious acceptance. Who's with me!!! Lets be positive!!!! 🙂

does anyone have an updated status page? mine says the same old garbage about no decision yet. oh, and i haven't received a letter yet saying waitlist or rejection.

Even with a wait list letter in hand, it still has the phrase that doesn't pay, "The decision regarding your acceptance has not yet been determined."
 
For whatever it's worth, I was accepted in November and I still have that message...so don't worry too much about that page. I don't think it is necessarily an up-to-date indicator 🙂

That's odd...then how were people figuring out they were accepted by the status page? Am I looking at the wrong thing?
 
You are probably looking in the right place, and I am probably experiencing some sort of glitch. I think the intention is that you get the letter before you see the status page change...You're in the home stretch though!

No, I think it means ballerinadoc got your acceptance letter by mistake!! 😱 (Just kidding.....I'm sure it's just a glitch thing)
 
called again today, against better judgment that i might be harrassing them. the woman on the phone (not brenda) said that letters were being mailed, and that i would hear by early next week.

are they allowed to tell us the final decisions over the phone?!!!!!!!! anyone know???
 
heyya i just called and asked for an update on my status and all they could say was that we should hear in a week or so...ahhh the waiting!!!
 
What letters, letters of waitlist, rejection, and acceptance?
 
Has umass rejected anyone yet so far? I haven't heard yet but I am just curious.

I had the same thing .... when I was accepted the status page had changed ... so I accepted the acceptance and paid the deposit ..... when I went back to check it again, however, the "no decision has been determined" page was back up .... naturally, I freaked out and called my credit card company to make sure that I had been really accepted and paid the deposit and it wasn't all just a big dream ... luckily, it wasn't!!

Anyway, the status page thing is really weird and once a decision has been made and viewed by the potential student, it reverts back to the "no decision" page.

Best of luck to everyone waiting ... I know that it easy for me to say this since I have been accepted, but from what I've read here on SDN and heard from students at UMass, there are sooo many people accepted after May 15th .... so relax and wait a little bit more .... there will be a lot of activity 2 weeks from now! :luck:
 
Well that's it - I officially despise UMass.
Rejection came today, for the 2nd year in a row - thanks to UMMS for stringing me along again.
I will have to move out of MA for med school, but at least, thankfully, I am going somewhere.
Good luck everybody. But if you go to UMass, don't bother applying to the residency program I'm in charge of 10 years from now! 😛

🙁 I'm sorry to hear that. Seriously, they're making a mistake. I'm sure UMass is going to make my despise list once that letter (which I know must be in the mail) arrives in my mailbox.

I'm glad you have an acceptance. Where are you going? I'm still waiting for an acceptance. Any acceptance.

Haven't decided b/w the 2 schools I'm in at, (both DO programs) plus 1 more I'm waitlisted at (MD program) - interesting that 2 of those are OTHER state schools.

Sorry that you're still waiting for any acceptance - who knows - it could still happen. If it isn't UMass, realize it's their loss, though, honestly. Where else could you still hear from? Hang in there - this is my 2nd application cycle.
 
Got the big R today as well.

Having grown up in Worcester, I'm a little glad that I don't have to go to med school there, but that would be easier to stomach I feel if I had one acceptance.

Ah well, such is life, I suppose!

I just got a rejection letter too postmarked may 5...i dont get it, i was waitlisted last year and this year i have a masters and tons more experience...at least i got in somewhere else

The only school I haven't heard from is NYMC. I'm waitlisted at BU and Albany and low tier waitlisted at Albert Einstein. It's just a terrible feeling sitting here and waiting indefinitely.
 
Oh and I got the rejection letter from UMass today too. Postmarked May 5th, letter dated May 3rd.
