Umass?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yes, I think it's true. The only exception is if you are an applicant to their MD/PhD program.

There are also schools that charge ridiculous tuitions to OOS students and thus close to no OOS applicants apply. The last time I looked, MSU charged almost 90k/yr to OOS students according to my MSAR.

Is it true that if your an out of state student you cant get into UMass for MD?

Are there other schools like this where they require that you are a resident of X state to get in?

Thanks

I don't know about UMass specifically, but there are many states that absolutely require residency to attend their state medical schools, and almost all at least give heavy preference to in-state students. It makes sense if you think about it; if state taxpayers are funding the medical school, you'd think they' probably want that money going to fund the education of residents of that state.

UMass will throw your application in the trash without even reading it if you don't meet their VERY stringent in-state admissions requirements. MD/PhD is OK for OOS

Good question to ask, because I'm always amazed at OOS people that apply to schools like UMass and wonder why they are rejected.
