Best of luck every one ,who got a calll from UMDNJ.
I want to share and advice with some point on the bench exam at UMDNJ with my previous experiance i 2007. I got waitlisted and that wait never became my victory. But anyway this year again i applied and they have not called me till today. I paid 250 and lot of my energy to them to get call . But i am very proud and happy to join LLU.😍
But there are some tips and advice for UMDNJ exam on Nov 6th .
First of all its very very tyring and hactic day for allof u. they call 20-22 students in one batch. 18 -19 will show up.
Then day start from orientation with power points sitting all applicants on one big official table.
Then they will take everbodys picture and Id like green card or driving lisence copy to make sure that u r citizen of USA and resident of Newyork. or nj.
Because tey give preferance and ap[plicants always have upper hand.
than Clinical exam Prosthetic section first
CLinical have Dental chair in which typodont is mounted on the head rest of the dental chair and you have same kind of set up what you will get in the dental clinic like instrument tray head light. and all that. water control will be in the foot.
Now exercise : 1. PFM on 8/ 9 Columbian tento form
2. On the same Crown prepration , you have to prepare temporary crown . They will give you poly silicon plastic custom made tooth . you have to adjust and contour that tooth with the prepared tooth first in length wise as it will be very long tooth.
So my tip is controur trim from the cervical portion up to the appropriate size of prepared CI and then you have to mix SELF CURE RESIN and put on the preared crown . KEEp eye that you will remove the temporary crown before acryic sets . As it will be very difficult later to remove from tooth. Apply enough vaseline before temporary fabrication. Then remove excess of acrlic and smmoothly and neatly merge all the acrylic margin with your PFM shoulder and chamfer.
3. you will get surveyou and lower cast most probably and Pencils of red and blue colours and one small paper with drawing of lower cast with teet drawing and same like class i ,2,3 ,4, 5,any rpd lower calss picture.
you will get lower cast . The question will be . Desighn the cast partial denture for this patient and write down how you are going to send your desighn information to the lab and technician .
YOu have to firt survey the cast and make tripod marks and guiding palnes and then desighn , where to put rest ,I clasp and retainer direct as well indirect. For this just go through the rpd desighn and survey from book. Practice on lower cast.
THen section over LUNCHtime, break time, and interveiw time all together. As in the orientation they will allot you table number. You have to go the specified table and sit with your snack in hand . 2applicats share one table then interveiwer come to your table 2 of them and start discussing here and there and have food with you. what is your experiance.
how you did performed in the clinicals
All general conversations. How many rct, crowns u did.
Then all of sudden they will make announcements to go to the clinical lab again for restorative section.
YOu have to prepare MOD on 16 and 26. both of them but you have to tell the evaluator which one you wants to keep you Class mod prepration for your evaluation on prepraing the MOD
other one u have to Fill with amalgum restoration. and carve the anatomy.
the evaluator mark your tooth number upon your individual choice as a cavity aprep and other for carving evaluation.
# hr for this and 3hr. for morning session.
Then finish with clinical skill. then written exam
They will give you questionare sheen with sufficient space b/w question. mostly question come from prosho and operative and perio.
Mostly definations like articulators, why we do wax up before CD fabrication, face bow, centric relation , occlul=sion VD maesurements and some operative questions why axio pulpal rounding .
like basic question and some picture with occlusal surface drawing you have to tell the right and left side , upper or lower side. Like this . very easy as u are already passed cpart 2 you can easily do that . concentrate more on clinicals.
I dont thinks s they even read the answers . only thing they beleive in show off and make that they really analyise the student for their program . But not true. they just make hactic for you they are big cheater , they give preferance to the students from their uni, doing mph or amy coyurse, NJ residents <NY residents or usa citizens . They dont care for us. My clinical prep and rest of the exam was preety good athey put me on waiting list because i was canadian citizen . they want us.
And may be i was not lucku . During clinical exam the lab atmosphere is not good. They give you very rough and blunted instruments and burs. The examiners prosho very very very rood. Speak get out and all that language with applicant . till today my worst experiance is UMDNJ.
Then they seand the most awaited result which is all unfair.
But Dont think this way . Eventhough knowing every aspect i still applied this year . because we have to keep our options and reach to our destination soon. As i got in LLU ,i dont care for their. But u all r going for exam , try to do your best. if god is great for u UMDNJ team cannot do anything for your destiny ,they have to accept you.
You cant take your instruments and burs. what they give you have to work with that . Can u imagine for PFM on 8 they didnt gave me shouulder bur in my kit when i he said . what u have u have to work with. when i came out i asked other people they said they had shoulder bur. i prepared shoulder with hand instruments. i can never forget that .
but anyways i hope they must have improved their standards and you all will do very good.
