I know that the Admissions Committee recently met the end of March to review applications. I just called and was certain that I would be accepted into the program, but they didnt make a decision on my application and now I have to wait until they meet again!!!! Which is probably at the end of Aprill! grrrr

Has anyone been notified recently from UMDNJ recgarding acceptance into the MBS Program?
 
I have not heard anything either
 
I have been accepted to the stratford program but my application was reviewed and is being pushed back another 3 weeks in the newark program.
 
what are your stats biohzd79? just curious

Just got the letter today that I was accepted into the Newark MBS program. I plan on accepting the offer. Just to give you guys a timeline...my app was sent in mid march, I received a letter saying my app was complete on 3/27.

Also...I didn't know there was also a program on the Stratford campus. What is the difference?

Where is everyone thinking of living? And does anyone know what time the classes run, how many hours of class a day, etc?? Does anyone know the average stats of students in the prgm? Thanks! 🙂
 
I just got my acceptance letter today (It was dated April 1)! I submitted my application on March 20, and got a letter saying my app was complete on March 27. I'm a New Jersey resident.

I have a 3.3 cum GPA and a 34 MCAT.

I'm seriously considering doing this program, as it's cheap and close to home. I'm also considering looking into dentistry; does anyone know if we can take the class with the med students AND the class with the dent students?
 
Quick question for you guys....did everyone submit the application online or sent in a paper copy? I have my app all filled out, I'm just waiting on one LOR.
 
I submitted online and my application was complete about two weeks later. And I do know that they have given 50 acceptances...and they are accepting 120-140 for fall 08
 
Does anyone know how many students typically apply to this program?

Also, where is everyone going to be living? Is the apartment/dorm on campus only for the dent students or is it available to the masters students as well? Any info on this?
 
wtf? there is an online application? my application was complete in mid March. haven't heard back from them yet but im really counting on umdnj if i dont get goergetown

I just got my acceptance letter. Is anyone else going to have a hard time meeting the decision deadline? (April 15). I haven't heard back from other schools yet.
 
I got accepted to the M.B.S. program at UMDNJ - Newark and I am very excited! Does anyone have helpful information about the program or details about housing? I'm a non-resident and I'm not exactly familiar with the Newark area.

For the people who were accepted, how many days did they give you before you had to decide if you want to accept the offer or not?
 
Terp- I was accepted 4/1. Got the letter today (4/8)...supposed to notify them by 4/15.
 
DocSoMa..I just sent in my deposit for 180th market street which is their graduate apartments (i think its only graduate school but not sure). I figured since I'm also from out of state that would be the easiest way to go.
 
I called UMDNJ, they confirmed their next meeting will be end up april. Good luck.
 
Hey guys,

Not to sound completely ignorant, but I've heard from some of my friends that Newark is not a very safe area and I'm getting a bit concerned about this since I've been accepted to the M.B.S. program. Granted, a lot of wonderful schools aren't exactly located in the safest areas, but I was wondering if I could get some feedback from people that are a bit more knowledgeable than I am about Newark.

I'd appreciate your help!
 
yes Newark is a really dangerous and crappy area. I live n the city and my boyfriend lives in jersey. I went with him to look at apts in Newark and it was pretty scary. The apt was nice but the area was bad. I would be very cautious of where u live.

I know NYU is very pricy and I do not have much info about NYU programs but I heard Newark area is not nice and even classes are offered at night. Only thing that makes me concern for UMDNJ is the area... May be because I haven't lived in the city. 😀 Any advice? BTW, I am a predent. Thanks,

well for one the UMDNJ program is a 1 year SMP. The NYU thing is a full blown 2 year masters program. There is verryyy little information about the NYU program but you can call the 2 heads of it (numbers are on the webpage). UMDNJ would be my opinion, then again I turned down my acceptance and to most likely take PCOM over UMDNJ.
 
I called and they said they cannot give decisions over the phone. Is this true, or does this only apply for rejections?

My app was done early January, but I didn't get the guts to call until now.

Oh, they said they are sending out letters next few weeks too!
 
I called the office a few days ago and they said they were beginning to compose letters for people who were just reviewed and we should hear something within the next week....

Hey all- I will be attending in the fall and am currently looking for roommates. If you are interested in living in 180 Market Street student housing let me know. I just checked them out today and they were pretty nice. You can send me a personal message if you have any questions. There is a study lounge on the 8th floor and wireless throughout the buildng.. Or at least that's wat they told me

When i called on friday she said the letters were being sent out that day. Although i thought she said that on monday so we'll see. Good luck.
 
Just got the acceptance letter today! Now I need to look for housing that is close to the school or close to the PATH... Any takers?
 
i'm assuming i'll get my acceptance tomorrow 😉 😉 If thats the case i'll need a roommate. Have you even started looking up there for housing?

Nope! I haven't done anything! I'm surprised by the options available, and confused by them too. It says you can only choose one of the following electives, but online it said we could take up to two med courses (I wanted phys and neuro!). I'm a bit confused by that.

Also, I'm surprised how they put in big effin' bold "NOT A LINKAGE BITE ME!" warning about med and dent school. I heard there is a close connection, even if it is not official. The rates are high enough that they should brag about them, but here they are hiding them and even warning against going down this road...
 
I hear you there. If you look at some other people's post who attended there, they definately took two dental courses.. so i assume the same for med.

As for the warning, I think they just want to make sure no one goes there thinking there is any sort of guarentee.

Hey all ! I am interested in living in the 180 Market reet graduate housing. If you are interested in sharing a 3 bedroom apt with me let me know. i checked out the campus and housing last week.

Aww this is really upsetting. The Dental Physiology class is FULL for fall semester.

I was told by Dr Wagner to get in contact with Dr Tsiagbe. I called him today and he said it was full and that there is already a waiting list. This sucks ESP since this was one of the main reasons I chose UMDNJ 🙁
 
Wow, that can't be good news for the MGM course for med students... I wonder how many students will be in the program this year?

Awww man, this sucks!! I def understand what you mean, taking dental school classes was the only reason I applied to this program.
