does anyone know how big is the wait list for this year at UMDNJ-SOM?
ksmtkiss said:when it comes to info on waitlists schools treat it as a national security threat if any of this info was to be revealed. So, as a general rule there is no real way to find out how many ppl are waitlisted or your position in the waitlist.
sayoc said:I just like to know a raw number. If anyone knows please post here.
the alchemist said:i heard from jennifer schevlin (dr watkins secretary) that a couple of ppl were already taken off the waitlist but that the bulk of the movement is in june/july and even up 2 the day of the white coat ceremony.
sayoc said:but they told me that there hasn't been any movement at all! conflicting information.
do you know how many people are on the waitlist? I heard that there is top 10 list. I wasn't sure if that top 10 people belongs to top 10%, top 20% or top 25% of all waitlisters.
Amaranthan said:Sigh. I've heard there has been no movement whatsoever. All of this hearsay is driving me crazy -- to hope or not to hope...
Has anyone heard anything more about these 20 seats opening up? Are they expanding the class size? I thought the first and second year classrooms only had a capacity of 100 people each.

I've figured out the method to the admission madness! They are picking names out of a hat!e33 said:I just found out that my friend who interviewed Apr. 25 was just recently accepted.

I was waitlisted in December, but apparently am an "extremely qualified candidate that there is no room for because the class is full."
Who knows what to believe? Good grief!
PublicEnemy said:hey guys, i know exactly how you feel, and my advice to you is just hang in there. let the admissions office know from time to time that you're still alive and well and interested. our school typically sees a siginficant amount of movement during these summer months up til the white coat ceremony. i can tell you a large number of people in my class were accepted off the waitlist, some even up to a day before the first day, so just hang in there, and don't give up hope. i wish you guys all the best, and i hope i see you here in the fall.
the alchemist said:heya guys,
just wanted 2 post so u know that the WL is starting 2 move. i just got the strangest call from paula watkins, saying that they r reviewing the "alternate list" and that i am the next in line if a WL spot opens. not an official acceptance but just 2 say that they anticipate someone dropping and that i should b next off the WL. so there's hope, just have 2 wait 4 the same strange call i guess. just 4 reference, i interviewed on v-day (feb 14) and got WLed end of feb.
aau22 said:Congrats!!! 🙂 That si really odd they call ahead...was it to kind of gauge your interest level and see if you wanted the spot when it opens???
sayoc said:alchemist has high stats so i won't be suprised they called her. I spoke to adcom, they have told me that for those waitlisters who qualified will received a letter.
No letter for me so far 🙁
aau22 said:What do you mean who qualify??? LIke those who get pulled from the waitlist get a letter or they are going to be shortening the waitlist??
the alchemist said:heya sayoc and aau22, thx dudes. i just got another call from paula watkins and i am officially in. she must call a lot of ppl everyday cuz she thought she called me a coupla days ago, when it was just only yesterday. still haven't heard from western so i called them and they say that my letter is on the way, too...

Congrats, alchemist! I'm glad to hear that the waitlist is beginning to move 😀 I, too, am curious about your stats. (I'm wondering if I should get my hopes up...)the alchemist said:heya sayoc and aau22, thx dudes. i just got another call from paula watkins and i am officially in. she must call a lot of ppl everyday cuz she thought she called me a coupla days ago, when it was just only yesterday. still haven't heard from western so i called them and they say that my letter is on the way, too...
Jezzielin said:Does UMDNJ-SOM take people off solely by GPA/MCAT? Not on the waitlist here, but curious about other schools. 🙂
sayoc said:They do point system! GPA and MCAT are all given by points, so does your interview points. They rank you according total number of points you have. Many school do. It is very effective way of judge people - I felt it is only way to rank large pool of applicants but not necessarily a good/best way.
Higher the GPA and MCAT, the better the chance you have....
I know alchemist stats are very good.
wildsimmer said:do u know when these letters were sent?
the alchemist said:i got phone calls from paula watkins. one, yesterday, to warn me i'm next on the WL if a spot opens up and two, another call today to say that i am officially now accepted. they are fed-exing a packet of materials (acceptance letter, housing, finaid info, etc) tonight 4 me 2 get by 2morrow (fri). just watch ur cell phone 4 a 856 number, that might be paula
wildsimmer said:How the hell do u delete a post u made?
wildsimmer said:Alchemist, congrats!!!
Sayoc, do you know when those letters telling you if you are top 10 were sent out?
sayoc said:I am sorry, I don't know the answer to this question. You should be informed, by mail or phone, that you are made to "top 10". I am anxiously waiting too. If I do get anything from adcom I will let you know. I read somewhere in SDN, that soneone from last year made to top 10 but did not get an offer, so top 10 just a indicator not a guarantee. Waitlist movement is like a damping over time...
jerome79 said:So if a person makes the "Top 10" in terms of the waitlist, is that the first letter they receive, or do they receive the standard waitlist letter, and receive another letter later? This is a question for anyone who knows...

😱 DrBrad, where have you heard this information? To take away a well established school's accreditation seems like a rather drastic step for the administrative mistakes of a few individuals. Does this rumor have a legitimate beginning, or is it just speculation?DrBrad said:I have heard that possibly the accreditation of the university may be affected in the long run by the dishonesty and mishandling of the university money. Once a school loses accreditation you cannot take federal loans. So this is very alarming to me.

Sounds like just hearsay. Do you have any proof of this?DrBrad said:I have heard that possibly the accreditation of the university may be affected in the long run by the dishonesty and mishandling of the university money.
