Hi,

Can anybody give some experiences from this cycle and last as far as timing of getting an automatic interview from Michigan? I received my secondary on 6/30 (AMCAS verified in late June) and am concerned that possibly my numbers got messed up somewhere along the way (I have high scores). I noticed that several people that got the secondary on 6/30 and since have already gotten interview invites. Anybody with similar stats also without an interview? Did they come out with the secondary last year?

Thanks!

Yep, 37 & 4.0
Don't be too concerned, if we don't get the auto invite we could still get the regular one. Nothing wrong with that. :luck:

In 2004 the director of admissions told a group that:
In-state automatic interview:GPA 3.6, MCAT 33
Out of State automatic interview: GPA 3.75 MCAT 35

the numbers should be around there this year. are you from MI? I am and qualify but I haven't gotten an invite yet and I was wondering the same thing. If more people are in the same boat I dont feel as bad, I guess.

I heard that last year UMich was very haphazard about giving out their automatic invites. Your definitely above the cutoff for OOS which is 3.8 and 36 I think. I would just hold tight, you will probably get an interview... as for me, I have to wait for them to review my application.

I heard the numbers moved up this year.

In-State Automatic Interview: GPA 3.6, MCAT 34

But I think people with lower numbers have gotten the automatic interview so I don't think it's a strict cutoff.

I hate the MCAT...good for you guys who did so well, that's sweet....but I wish my future was not based on a score. ugh.

haphazard meaning not everyone deserving got theirs or meaning they did but the school just took a while and the applicants were in a weird pattern?

just tryin to get info... are you UM undergrad chyme?

I'm OOS for Michigan (VA baby!) and I got an auto interview with a 3.75/38Q

When you say auto-invite, do you mean getting an invite right after submitting the secondary or before even sending it in?

It came at the same time as the secondary. Basically, the sequence of events started off with an email announcing the secondary and giving me the address. I then logged in and the status page popped up (as it always does when you first log into the secondary) On the status page, besides the normal stuff, there was something to the effect of "We are inviting you to interview. Please select a date:" and there was a drop-down box. After selecting a day, the app status page went back to normal only it said "Interview(s) Scheduled."

Do you know if there is any kind of advantage to interviewing on Sept. 8 vs. Sept. 30?

I reckoned not, since they don't extend any acceptances until October.

I agree. I've heard from a person who interviewed on October 14th last year and got in with the first batch of admissions.
