I've seen people elsewhere on these forums talk about matriculation rates, average GPAs of admitted students, etc but I have no clue where I'd find that information. So anyway, I was wondering if anyone has applied to UMKC and been accepted/rejected, and if so, what was your GPA/PCAT/pharmacy experience? I know things vary, but I'm just wondering if anyone can give me a general idea of how hard it is to get an interview, or get accepted, for UMKC.

I don't think UMKC is even taking applications this year - aren't they in the process of switching from a 1-5 to a 2-4 program? Can't remember for sure and don't feel like looking it up.

lol...yeah, that's what their website says. Not taking apps again until 2011 for 2012 matriculation.

Yeah, I know that. I didn't apply to schools this fall, I'll be applying for 2012... so, next year.

Well, they're adding a year of pre reqs... and taking a year from their program - so there's a good chance their future admissions statistics will be significantly different than in the past.

UMKC's previous list of required prereqs had a section where they list some classes like Organic I & II, Cell Bio, and Microbio as "recommended" classes. I guess you're right, but I just assumed everyone took those classes if they could prior to applying. Their 2-4 curriculum more or less just assimilates their recommended list into their required prereqs. So considering that, admissions are going to be a bit different.. but still, I'd welcome any input about the general atmosphere and how competitive it is.

I was accepted into UMKC's pharmacy program. Orientation starts tomorrow and my classes start on Monday. To give you a sum, I was active duty military as a pharmacy technician for 7 years. I was accepted back in May. I only applied to UMKC and I was able to get in. I technically was suppose to apply to pharmacy schools in 2011, but since UMKC was changing their program, I gave it a shot. I was extremely lucky, and I am very grateful for that. Yes, they are changing their program from a 1-5 to a 2-4 and they are not accepting a new class until Fall 2012. UMKC is a competitive program, but I honestly think that it will be more competitive when they change their curriculum. I hope you are an in-state student, as I am not and I will remain an out-of-state student my entire 5 years of pharmacy school. It is expensive, but I chose to be closer to my family-my mother is helping me pay for expenses while I am in school so that is why I applied to UMKC. If you have any specific questions, please IM me. Thanks and good luck.
