Because of the pandemic, my research program in the US was canceled. Now I'm thinking of volunteering online (teaching low-income kids, United Nations). Will med schools look down on such volunteering? I can't find any volunteering opportunity in my country right now because of the pandemic.

Hi! I did this also as a way to round out my application a bit, and I've done well this cycle with getting into schools. I specifically worked on one of the programs where there was promotion of international female empowerment.

I framed it as a component of my application, and I think it helped frame my story. The UN is, although not without its flaws, a respected institution that does a good job of vetting its online volunteering options. I would say go for it, it will be a nice experience and will show that you are being productive.
