There's usually a thread just for us UNC applicants but haven't seen one yet this year. So....here it is!!

Who is applying?? How far along are you with the application?? Any re-appliers?

I'm a re-applicant myself. Round 2. Made it as far as the wait-list last year. Think my PCAT score is holding me back the most. My score actually WENT DOWN considerably the second time I took it. 😱 I'm applying to more schools this year. Last year I went all in and only applied to UNC. Not a smart move on my part.

But...I'm really hopeful about this time. Would love to have some people to share the anxiety with??? 😉

Hey
I am applying to UNC also
Its a longshot for me since I am not a North Carolina resident
But i figure nothing ventured, nothing gained
good luck to you

I would apply for this cycle, but I won't have the prereqs finished for matriculation (seriously- they have a lot!). I will apply there next year if I don't get in to my other schools this year.

yeah, new applicant here. UNC is also a hail mary for me as well since I am out of state and don't have extremely good stats, though I might be fairly competitive depending on my august PCAT score. I absolutely love the school and the area so I'm very anxious to hear something back but until then, the anxiety continues haha. good luck to everyone else who is applying as well.

In-state UNC applicant here. Only school I really want to go to. PharmCas submitted on 9.13 but they have yet to mail it. Supplemental already sent and received. It's a waiting game now...

Good Luck everyone, keep us updated when you start receiving interview info 🙂

Another in-state applicant here, PharmCAS submitted on 9/13 and mailed out 9/29

Hey! I'm an out of stater, and I am def. interested in UNC. I already mailed the supplemental and all. Just got my PCAT scores yesterday though, and I must say that I am extremely disappointed. I should have expected it though, I am a horrible test taker. Anyways, the rest of my app. is good so lets keep our fingers crossed. Good luck everyone 🙂

also out of state here. just curious, those of you who are applying again this year, what were your standings and such for last year's cycle? did you get an interview? if so, how was it?

I am applying, out-of-state and JUST e-submitted. Hope it's not too late!

same here! I'm out of state and just e-submitted on Tuesday

out of state applicant here too 😀 yea... it seems really hard to get in if your not from NC, but the campus is great and so is the school. submitted my app and supplemental and just waiting for a reply haha. do u guys know how long they take to get back to you for an interview?

Also an out-of-state applicant. Good luck to you all! I am applying to several other schools, but I visited UNC and absolutely loved it! I applied late August and take the PCAT in October.

I've seen two people with invites.....eeek! Please keep us updated on interview dates, etc!

Hi. I'm applying too, also out-of-state. I thought the application review process haven't started yet? Or are you talking about early decision?

I am applying to UNC and I received my interview invite yesterday!!!!

Oh, and I did not do the early decision.

Is your username alluding to Coldplay? Or just a big science fan?

I am applying to UNC next year for Fall 2010. Does applying for early decision increase your chances dramatically??

UNC did not offer early decision this year.

Hi. They are having two sessions on Friday, November 14. Ms. Goldston said she wasn't sure when the next interviews would be -- if after or before the New Year.

Does any one know how many interview sessions UNC normally has? Also, does anyone know how many people interview in the sessions and are your chances better of getting accepted if you interview in one for the first sessions?

I just got the invitation email! I'm so excited right now, but have to decide on a date to go.

Good luck to everyone else waiting to hear from them!

The best advice I can give is to relax. Last year I applied to UNC and just barely met their supplemental deadline. I waited on pins and needles and had just about given up when I received my email for an interview. How long did I wait??? Three months and FINALLY, in February I interviewed and two weeks later I was accepted. UNC takes their time with the process and I believe, gives each application the consideration it deserves. Hope this helps to ease the worries and concern. Relax and good luck!! PS--I am now a first year pharmacy student at UNC, working hard, and loving the program!

I've got an interview on Dec. 16th!

Anyone want a roommie? 🙂 PM me!

Since when did UNC have early decision? I didn't know about that when I applied. Maybe it was because I was out of state.

I don't know if they were ED in the past, but they definitely didn't offer ED this cycle.

So I interviewed on Friday and was really impressed with UNC. For all of those people who have interviewed with UNC already, How do you think that you did and what was your overall opinion?

I also came back from my interview from this Friday (I was in the 2-5 session as well!). I really enjoyed the experience (even if it rained all day).

I'm from TN so I know my chances are harder, but I'm looking forward to hearing news. Did they mention something about an update letter that we'll get in December? It's a drag to think they don't give out decisions till mid-march. 🙁

They told us that the latest we would hear on the status of our admissions would be the end of December/ beginning of January, meaning that they could still be reviewing it or that they are no longer reviewing it. The said that they lastest we would hear on an acceptance decision is mid-march. From what I have heard is that you could hear something with in a few weeks also. I am not getting my hopes up though, I just have to remain patient.

Yeah, I was in the 11/14th 2-5 interview session as well. The rain put a big damper on the day, but the whole thing was pretty painless! Of what I could see of the campus, it seemed really cute. All the students and faculty were very nice.

And yes, I remember Dr. Cox saying earlier we could hear is late Decemeber/early January and the latest we could hear is March 1.

From what I have read from the people who were in this same position last year, they were hearing with 2 weeks. I really hope that it is like that this year.

For those of you who have been accepted in the past years, did you get your acceptance/rejection/progress reports letters sent to your Permanent or Current address? Just wondering so I can call the Admissions Office if I need to before my month long winter break from school.

Thanks!

I loved Chapel Hill its now my number 1 choice, I really hope I get in.

I just received my invite for an interview on December 16th! Unfortunately though, I am going to be in Hawaii on vacation on that day, so I won't be able to make it. I was told that I would be put back into the "interview pool".

Does anyone know exactly what this means? Will my application have to be reviewed again for me to get an interview?? I'm kinda confused, and worried that my chances to get in will be decreased if I don't interview on Dec. 16th....

If i were you, i would ask them if you can reschedule for january or an alternative day, but they want you because they sent you an e-mail to interview. The applicant pool thing i don't know about, but try calling them to see if you can reschedule for sometime near in the future.
Could you take a later flight to HA? But i would consider this if UNC is your first pick, if not, then don't worry about it.
Good luck you to

Don't worry about being put back into the interview pool. I actually turned them down twice for interviews because the timing was not right, but they still called me a third time and I finally scheduled this time. ^-^ They are pretty persistent once they want to see you in person.

I have an interview on Dec. 16th!!

does anyone have any idea when we should expect to hear back from UNC?
I had an interview on Nov 14th and I am waiting anxoiusly!!!

Ms. Cox said in the later session's orientation that the earliest we can hear is late Decemeber/early January.

I am currently in the class of 2012. In regards to when they mail the acceptance letters out, there really isn't any way to predict when you will get your acceptance. I remember that Dr. Cox repeatedly stressed last year that just because you get an interview early does not mean you will necessarily hear back earlier or have a higher chance of getting in. In retrospect, I think what the admissions office was saying was very true.

I know this process is very anxiety provoking. Trust me, I went through it last year. But the best thing to do is simply to wait, and your letter will eventually arrive.

Hey,
Good luck with your application and interview process! I am currently in the class of 2012. I don't know exactly if they send your letters to the permanent or current address. But based on last year's acceptances, I don't think you need to worry about getting notified during winter break. The first wave of acceptances came much later than January. I know this whole process is very nerve wrecking, as I went through it last year. The best thing to do is just to relax and your letter (hopefully an acceptance!) will come soon enough.
