I'm still waiting for one of those great underdog success stories to happen to me. I can't believe what i nightmare this whole process has been. At my one and only interview my second interviewer refused to answer my questions because he thought that because of my mcat score, i was unable to handle the rigor of their program. *sigh* and that i should have even been asking questions of him regarding their special research activities. He didn't even look at anything other than me mcat, he had it written down with my name on a piece of paper. anyway. here's my story so far...
GPA overall : 3.9
GAP science: 3.9
1 yr. volunteer at childrens hospital, 4 years biochem research (presentations and independent research), chemistry and biochem tutor 4 years, home care volunteer for elderly woman, published fiction writer
MCAT: 28S <--- booooo hissssss
so my mcat is obviously making me an underdog, although plenty of people seem to be doing well , much better than me, with less, so i don't know what up. sad 🙁
I had 1 interview (above) and all rejections, otherwise, and i applied to a TON of schools, many of them lower tier and middle tier (i applied to mayo for fun since i worked for them one summer as a research person, but didn't make it past the phone interview, and did develop mass amounts of false hope). only one school left to hear from. need some loving.
