Hi all,

I have a question in my mind. I wonder if the college that you went to will affect the priority of your interview invite sent by some big-name med schools (*cough, H). For instance, 2 students one went to a private school and one went to a state school both apply to a big-name med school, will the school invite student #1 first and then maybe student #2 later in the game if there are still unfilled seats?

I believe there's a slight prejudice against TX residents at OOS schools. They know we have some very good options in-state at very, very reasonable cost. A lot of TX residents will turn down big schools in favor of cheaper tuition in state.

Just my opinion.

How many ways can we ask the same question?

Sssshhhh

The Pre-allo forum is a project designed to answer this very question. It has been running for ten years and the answer is near. If people find out now, it could skew the results and ruin our hard work.

Now, come on, is this really the question that you want to ask?

I'm not trying to mean, I would just like you to look over your message one more time.

There is absolutely no way that anyone on this board (with the possible exception of LizzyM) could answer this.

Even if Lizzy could answer this, you probably wouldn't want the answer.

a. It makes a difference: You're afraid that you'll have to wait forever for an interview at H, or that they'll run out of interviews before they get to you.

b. It doesn't make a difference: If it doesn't make a difference, how come I haven't been invited to interview at H yet?

Face it: No one has any idea how to answer this question and if you had to travel to the tip of the highest mountain in the Himalayas to find the answer, you'd end up disappointed either way.

I sincerely hope that you get an interview from Harvard soon. You are a stellar applicant, regardless of which school you went to.

Now, go think of a more productive question.

Man,you are already accepted to my dream school!!!

Lol, I don't think it really matters unless the admissions offices are biased.

If you're asking about Harvard, I think it depends on when you asked to be interviewed. They had a question about interview date preferences on their secondary. I noted that I wanted to interview during December, and I received an interview for Dec. 15th. I since moved the date to Dec. 1st, the very first interview day for the HST MD program...and I went to a lesser-ranked state school. So I don't think that school rank weighs in on interview dates.
