These questions are for students currently in medical school, who are in their residencies, or doctors:

Which courses did you take during your undergrad years that you think best prepared you for the MCAT?

Which courses did you realize you should have taken?

Right now I'm just trying to make sure that I have the best possible courses picked out so I don't waste my time with a class that isn't very relevant.

I look forward to hearing your suggestions!🙂

while im not a med school student..
from what i know so far
you need
some biochem
general chem
organic chem
biology, micro and molecular as well as general
and then physics
genetics has some usefulness on the mcat

but yah.. you'll need to study for at least a month after taking all the required courses to get a decent score

classes that best helped me prepare: physiology and general chemistry

what should i have taken: i wish i had taken genetics (i ended up taking it senior year, after the mcat). i was far from the average pre-med though, so my guess is that you have this in your plan already.

as someone who was in a traditional pre-med major (and being that i didn't decide on med school until junior year), i can tell you that all you really need to rock the mcat is the bare minimum pre-reqs for med school admissions. that is essentially what i took, and i got a 35 after a few months of "extra-curricular" studying.

For the MCAT, I found my upper level chem and bio classes as the most helpful... they pretty much take all my pre-reqs and shove it into one course(like Metabolism for example..)
