Hello I am going to be a freshman in college. So far I'm taking chemistry and calculus. I already received a lot of ap credit so I don't need to take history, gov, economics, language, and rhetoric. Do you suggest I take another science based course such as organic chem or chem 1? What other courses should I take? I have a lot of credit hours to fill up. I am probably going to take physics as well. Should I retake biology even though I already took AP bio in high school or are there other useful classes instead?

Take stuff you're interested in. Don't be a premed drone. Don't take o Chem concurrently with gen chem。

Take a random class that you're interested in (e.g. art history, typography, whatever) and a class you can get an easy A in.

Art History where I'm at is a 200 level elective and I hear those tests are hell. :scared:

If you need help with Calc, feel free to PM me. I've been debating writing a humongous post about Calc and how to get through it, along with Stats and the like. 😀

Best of luck to you! Take what you want!

Agreed with this, though Pauls Online Notes summarizes your future long post 😉

I didn't think you could take Ochem and gen chem at the same time.. at least we couldn't at my school. It had to be gen chem first then O chem.

I tried to apply for Org. Chem and Chem I but I was not allowed. In fact, at my school it was recommended to just take one science for the first semester.

My final schedule came out to be

Govt. 2
Integral Calculus
Chem 1
Neuroscience (my minor)

I had a lot of credit from high school so I did not need to take any fine arts, history, english, computer science courses. 2nd semester I will take a humanities course Philosophy.

Also, I want to be an Anesthesiologist, will my minor have any impact on that at all? There were other minors I could have taken but Neuroscience seemed very interesting to me lol

Minors don't matter, but you probably need to take English or a writing class for schools that don't accept AP credit.

I just registered my schedule today. The only english/writing course available was RHET 1302 which I already had credit for because of AP.

Also, do you guys recommend scribing as a pre-med experience? I want to get good medical experience. And when is the best time to start working as one? I don't want to be too overwhelmed especially on my first semester as a freshman.

In the future, you'll need writing courses just in case.

Scribing is fine. Whenever you want to start.

Ok thanks. Any other recommendations for pre-medical job experience?
