Was wondering if DO schools care about where you got your undergrad degree. I mean you still hit all the required science courses...But do they care if people got their degree from places like phoenix or schools like that..??

Go wherever you can see yourself doing the best.

While I agree with what you are saying, I wanted to know if they are bias to schools like this.

STRONGLY doubt it.

A 3.8 from Chico state probably looks much better than a 3.2 from UC Berkeley. THERE MAY BE EXCEPTIONS TO EVERY CASE, however. I'm sure that is where the MCAT comes in, as that places everybody who is pre-med on the same platform. Kids from Stanford, Yale, etc. are taking the same exact exam as kids who probably took most of their pre-reqs at Merced community college. From the cases I've seen, it doesn't matter.

However, I haven't applied yet and most of stuff was done at a community college due to cost and wanting to be close to my family.

The numbers get your foot in the door, everything else is from your app.

Kick ass wherever you go man! Snappin' necks, and cashin' checks! You got this!

A DO admin dean told me my GPA was "good coming from __ University". So yes, but it matters in the context of gpa only and the schools relationship with the undergrad.

There is no bias, go somewhere that you feel comfortable, but mostly is cheap. Get the best bang for your buck. Money is a real thing. Name means nothing unless you are trying to get a business degree and work on wall st. or unless you are trying to get into Harvard Med.

Agree with Awesome. There will be some differences in some schools, but the main rule is to go somewhere you can get A's in, understand the material (you need to do well to get your MCAT prep laid) and feel comfortable with.

Did 1/2 my postbac at the local CC after realizing what a sham the whole 4-year public university was....quality my eye....300 students in a room with a single professor who only cares about research funding. Passes you off to lackey TAs who know about 12 words of English.

Exactly...

Look up, Dr. Quinones. Dude is a Neurosurgeon at hopkins. Started at a CC in southern california. Get the cheapest education that you can without skimping on quality. A bio degree is going to be the same thing and you will take the same classes no matter where you go. The only difference is the availability of research at certain schools, thats about it. A name will not carry you, your hard work will carry you. A name will also not drown you... but debt will drown you.

There were people that got into school before me that went to community college. Prestige of undergrad school as well as difficulty of major is really kind of BS. Schools care about high gpa and high mcat.

Only people that care are pre-meds, so no it doesn't matter.

Awesome thanks for all your posts...really appreciate it
