I was talking to my organic professor yesterday, and after we finished discussing a problem he asked me why i havn't been activally looking for a research opportunity for over the summer. I was totally taken off guard, i told him that i didn't know how the process of getting into a research positon works. So he gave me the low down on how to go about it and who to talk to.

I was also wondering if anyone else is doing research?

I did summer undergraduate research in the plant physiology lab in college. I also was part of the biochemistry lab group for one semester.

I also did summer undergraduate research in VCU School of Pharmacy. After that research experience, I was 110% sure that I wanted to attend VCU. It also helped me out during my interview with VCU, coz the person who interviewed me remembered me from the summer research. Any kind of research looks good on ur application. So definately try to do some research.

I did research during the summer and continued into the semesters... its not pharmacy research but for my major, mol. bio & biochem, its such a learning experience, way better than the books! I'm taking a class called cancer where we study published cancer articles and its really nice knowing what assay they used, how it was used and such... its a lot of fun doing actual experiments, highly rec.

You should definitely look into research. It looks good on application and it shows you can interact well with faculty on a professional level. In addition, you might end up liking it. For me, my research experience is the main reason I want to go into pharmacy so I can have a career in the industry doing research and development. Although I'll probably end up pursuing a PhD too.
