Hi guys,

It's a new school do obviously not much data will be out there. I applied but was rejected without interview. Im OOS and not from the New England area. 22 DAT, 3.6 GPA, 3.4ish sGPA.

I was interviews at a buch of other schools....obviously this is just one person so I do not know how representative my situation is.

Yes they are OOS friendly. They are private and give no preference to those in the NE area.

How do you claim something so boldly while being completely wrong. Don't spread wrong info.

Thanks for the lecture on how to post on SDN. I am new to the forum and appreciate the advice.:laugh::laugh:

1. Don't be a douche.

2. I stand by my claim that they are OOS friendly and they are private. I was unaware of their preference for NE students, for that i apologize. But they still don't receive funds from the state governments, therefore, they are not under any obligation to accept a certain number of "in-state" students. Furthermore, their website only states "some preference" is given, i interpret that as a small factor. We won't know to what degree "some preference" means until data is released from their first class, but 99% of the other private schools are OOS friendly, so i think it is safe to assume UNE is as well.

We just have to wait and see what the book says next spring. I suspect the class demographic will change in the next few years too. Perhaps there will be more local interest now that there's a school there. Maybe they'll eventually add more seats. A good portion of the class of 2017 appears to be from that region (ME, VT, NH) with various other states mixed in (e.g., ND, WI, NY, VA, CT, MA, FL?). Remember, this is Maine. Preference or not, I don't expect to ever see a huge representation outside of those surrounding states. Also, if you do some digging in the accepted thread, you can see a sample of applicants who were accepted from several places outside of the 'preferred' states (e.g., WA, FL, NC, NY, GA, ND, IN, WI, MD, Ontario, VA). Whether they decided to attend or not isn't the point. SDN data mining is hardly scientific, but I'm convinced they interviewed pretty broadly and gaining acceptance was absolutely possible as a non-region'er. If I were applying this cycle and I was interested in the school, the 'some preference' thing wouldn't deter me from applying.

Same goes for MOSDOH. This year is a little crazy since they started so late, so I wouldn't expect a class full of MO residents. I'd still apply there this cycle even though they broadcast preference for MO residents.

Sorry I came off that way. I think it's the amount of wrong info I've been seeing on here lately. And the heat, definitely the heat.

So people from California have a legit shot at UNE?
