I apologize as this is my second post regarding this, but now that I've had some time to think it through I was hoping to get some specific feedback. I was accepted at both UNECOM and RVUCOM. I am planning to attend RVUCOM, but am unclear about both a positive and negative on my UNECOM list which is making me hesitant to pull the trigger on it.

I'm still OOS but live much closer to RVUCOM. One day I want to practice/do residency on the east coast as this is where i'm from/where most of my fam is. UNECOM matches almost exclusively on the east coast...but I can't help but wonder if this is more self selection bias. RVUCOM matched pretty much all over the country- including east coast states. Does picking RVUCOM-CO genuinely hinder my ability to get an east coast residency?

My main con with UNECOM is their rotation sites...they're either extremely rural or super far away. As the only medical school in the state, it rubs me the wrong way that they have zero rotations in Portland which is the main city/30 minutes from the school. As of now, the closest rotations are 1.5 hours away and super rural. I can move to a big city- but this would be a rather large/far away move in order to do this. This seems like a huge stressor to have during medical school and like it would put strain on relationships, yet the students I talk to seem to love UNECOM. No one seems to ever pose concern for the third year rotation options so I'm not sure if I'm reading too much into it. My family wants me to pick UNECOM because it's closer to them and they think I'm being overdramatic about the moving being a big deal. Is it fair for me to be concerned about this or is it not a big deal?

Appreciate help on these factors as I imagine they're generally important considerations in general.

Both are great schools from what I've heard. (N=1) My buddy from RVU a few years back matched anesthesiology in Boston

I kind of take US News Reports with a gain of salt. They were ranked top 10 in that survey...when only 26 schools provided any data. It's not truly representative when such a small number of schools were compared. Regardless, they are an awesome school but US news didn't have an impact on that for me at least.

I mostly am wanting to attend because
-let's me be closer to family

I don't want to attend because
- the rotation situation means moving rural or several states away
