Hi there,

Has anyone applied to the new Univesity of Cincinnati program? Or already know they are going? I've applied and am hoping to go. I think it looks like a great opportunity!

I've applied as well and waiting to hear. I called the office a few days ago and Karen said that they just completed their first run through the applications and will be taking a second look in the coming weeks. She said we probably won't hear anything for at least a couple more weeks and when we do, it will be through the mail. She also mentioned the application deadline in May, so perhaps it won't be rolling admissions and we'll have to wait even longer. Although it looks like a good program, you only take 2 medical schools classes and the program is new.

It's a smaller class than other SMPs - i think they're going to accept 20 students. it's a blend of things, first quarter you take classes with the med students, then you take electives in physiology and elsewhere, and then in the summer you can do research. but their website goes into a lot of detail i think.

it's the only smp i applied to b/c my husband got a job offer there and we'll move to cincinnati in june. if i don't get in, i can't really go anywhere else, i guess i would work part time and take classes as continuing ed.

thanks for the info. i was actually waitlisted at Cincinnati last year and would have liked to have gone there since I'm from Cincinnati. fortunately i got accepted to MUO, although it would have been nice to go to school at UC. MUO actually has a similar program as the one at UC. i hear their acceptance rate into medical school is pretty good.

I am an NC guy so I will tell you MUO = Medical University of Ohio.

Art werent you on the high end of the alternate list last year for Cinci, did you get an interview this year there? I heard if you make the top of the WL and reapply that you have a very good shot at getting in...I am hoping at least since I interviewed there this year but dont think I will get in.

ooh, okay, that's why i didn't know about MUO, i only looked at programs that i could commute to, i.e. i applied to u.c. for post bacc and figured that i could only apply to med schools at u.c., wright state, and u. ohio .

i don't know how i'm going to feel about ohio though, apparently their liscence plates say "birthplace of aviation". hmmppfff. don't they know NC was FIRST IN FLIGHT??? 😛

i got accepted to MUO last year, so i am actually a med student now. it's a good school and i don't have any complaints. they do a good job in preparing their students for the USMLE (98%-99% pass rate) and the students match real well. i was looking at this years match list today and it was impressive. as far as medical education, i think both UC and MUO are great.

I am also WL'd No that thing hasnt moved in a couple of years. Even if you get "special group" , chances arent that great. Are you OOS, or IS . I am out of state. Have you got anything besides the "very interested in your app" letter yet? I think they soon invite us to remain on the alternate list and from that letter you get a better idea of where you are. How did your interview go there? I thought mine went extremely well and still got the WL. Also when you interview makes a huge difference, apparently they dont accept after January 1st or so. I interviewed in mid january. PM me if you want I do have some WL info.

Also this probably belongs i9n the pre-all forum and not in post-bacc

Hey guys!
I was just accepted to UC's Masters program, and wondering if anyone else had heard anything...
I'm currently waitlisted at 2 other schools, so hopefully I'll get in to those and not to have to worry about a masters 🙂
