I recently attended the annual Texas Optometric Association meeting. I was surprised to find that UIW was not present at the meeting. They were also not present at the pre-optometry students meeting. UHCO's presence was obvious, and I asked a UHCO faculty member why UIW wasn't present. UIW was invited to the TOA meeting but declined to attend.

Why would a new optometry school not 'try' to be proactive in its state association? Unorganized school? Money? Lack of interest? What message does it show to its students?
