I was a med student @ UB a couple of years ago, so my info may be dated. First off, Dr. Lema, the chair is excellent. He is pro-student/resident and is well known throughout the country. I think UB is probably a good clinical program, you rotate through a VA, Womens/Children's, county and semi-private hospital. I think the caseload is ok, but most attendings are private practice guys. Now, I think you will learn to be a slick pp anesthesiologist, but when looking for a residency you need to look for more depth. I know people in the program who are very happy but complain of lack of didactics and ability to use different anesthetic techniques. The one thing I did notice was the surgery/anesthesia relationship is not the greatest but probably not atypical compared country wide. Definitely worth looking at if you are interested in living in upstate NY.

Hmmm...
They put me "on hold", which is a case of delayed rejection. Maybe, I shouldn't be upset? 🙄
