University of Calgary UCVM acceptances and waitlists

Hi guys,
Just wondering who all received acceptances to UCVM. I just received the news I was waitlisted. Does anyone have any idea of how many students they place on a waitlist? Sadly the U of C will not tell an applicant their ranking. So now the waiting game continues lol.

I'm not sure of exactly how many are placed on the waitlist, but I do know multiple people who were waitlisted and accepted, so it's not uncommon.

I'm on the waitlist as well for UCVM.

I emailed Alana at the Admissions office and she said that there's 30 on the waitlist and in the past two years, they've gone halfway down the list before they had the class for that year filled up.

Another month of nail-biting, woohoo...

I am going to be declining my offer there soon so that's another spot for you guys! Once I make sure WCVM has received my transcript I will let UCVM know.

Wow I did not imagine there would be 30 on the waiting list, I was hoping there would be fewer 🙁 Oh well its still nice to have seen a waitlist rather then an outright rejection.

I haven't heard anything yet, cheeto, but congrats on getting in! I have the feeling that I'm not going to get the call this year, but that's okay... I'll get in next year for sure 😉

One of the vets I work with communicates a lot with Dr. Cribb, and Dr. Cribb told him that the competition for Alberta students this year was a lot higher than the previous two years, so getting in this year would be a nice surprise knowing that, but I'm kinda already focused on what I need to do in this upcoming year.

Well do not give up hope yet. You may still get the call! and you for sure have the right attitude about already planning for next year. I am relieved that I do not need a plan b but I had lots. I just completed my degree in april so had i not got in i would've upgraded some of my lower courses at a different university. I had a low gpa so I knew had i not received an acceptance I would have had to try everything to boost it. I almost did not apply this year b/c of my gpa but I am so happy I decided just to go for it. I really hope that you receive a phone call soon!

But thanks! I'm not giving up hope yet, it's just that I'm happy doing my back-up plan this year and I won't be too disappointed if I don't get in... even though I thought for sure that I killed it during the interview (but I guess that's why this was a really competitive year, lol).

I know that I've got my foot in the door already, and I'm going to be an even better candidate next year if I don't make it this year, so I'm pretty happy with whatever happens. I will be seeing you at UCVM either this year or next, you can count on it 😉
