as far as I can remember correctly, he mentioned that he will give accepted candidates a call throughout the day (assuming during their business hours).

A call throughout the day, and he said that those who receive a call/don't receive; everyone will receive an email with a congratulations, or waitlist, or not interested (bad interview).
