Well...I am a little late to post about my interview, but I'll do it anyway 🙂 I'm really not sure how I'd say it went - I have a tendency to judge myself more harshly, so I'll say that I definitely could have done better if I had thought about the question more before answering... I tried to incorporate my own experiences into each of my answers, but I don't know how well that went. Now I'm just stressing about getting this letter in the mail...

Does anyone know when the letters will be sent? I think they said by Friday but I know that SOMEONE out there must have annoyed the office already and called to ask hahaha 🙂

They told us friday at the latest....so it could be sooner. Let's hope for my sanity it is sooner!

I just called and spoke with a woman in the admission's office - she told me that the committee isn't meeting until next Tuesday, so she doesn't think the letters will be mailed until late next week...probably Friday... MAN!!! This wait SUCKS!!!

Oh no! That's so sad! I'm leaving for Spring Break on Monday morning at like 5am... I really wanted to know before I left 🙁

Someone call U of I and tell them to hurry up. I am getting impatient. Here's to hoping they decide at their meeting tomorrow and send out letters Wednesday!!!!!

you about gave me a heart attack posting in this thread!:boom:

Don't freak out that I bumped this thread! (sorry) But, I was just wondering if anyone knew if there were any decisions made today..?

I don't know, but if they didn't they have to make them soon. They said letters would be mailed by Friday and they need time to print the letters.

By the way, is anyone else checking their online status page at least once a day to see if Illinois made early decisions? I know that's not going to change this early, but I can't help myself....

Definitely more than once a day.. sooo anxious

I bet they don't make status changes until after we get letters... from what people said last year at least and judging by the mistakes made earlier in the IT department posting stuff too early... I bet they will be more cautious this time haha

being the nervous wreck that i am, i e-mailed the admissions office to see if the shpeal they gave us on interview day ("...letters will be mailed out by march 5 at the latest..") would hold true.

here's the reply:

It is still the plan to have the letters out by Friday. Keep in mind that mail works differently here because it is first shipped to the mail room on campus and sorted and sent out from there. They will likely get to the post office on Monday afternoon or Tuesday, so I wouldn’t panic until the end of next week.

fyi.

best of luck to all :xf:

Thanks haileyRN!
Too bad I'm going to UTk next Wednesday and won't be back home to check my mail until next Sunday.

So... if I am accepted of U of I... I'm having the hardest time deciding where I would go (again... if I'm so lucky to be accepted).

So... I was wondering what you all thought of the area/city?

I honestly love the area... Lots of great shopping and bars! And everyone is so nice and friendly... And not like creeper friendly..... And there are so many big cities within a 3 hour drive... Perfect for a weekends getaway

Thanks haileyRN!

I'm in a similar situation. I'm spending all of next week, until Sunday, visiting family out of state. I e-mailed Mary Kelm tonight and asked when exactly online statuses will change so I can just check that while I'm gone. I'll let everyone know what she says!

Smileystar - I second what Snobuni said. UIUC has a decent amount of entertainment and activity without the danger and dirt from a major city.
I have to say, after spending 3 1/2 years living in Philly, that I'm looking forward to not living in a major city for a while!

Well my boss just talked to the dean of the school today. He told him it would be 3-4 days before we know anything, so I'm guessing that definitely means they will be waiting until tomorrow to mail anything. Looks like we have another weekend of torture to get through :scared:

This is what Mary said in regards to our online status updates:

We plan to populate the status pages with the decisions sometime middle or late next week…so our letters have time to get to their destinations. It is great to see good news on the status page, but we do not want anyone to learn they did not get a seat from their status page…that seems a little cold.

The idea that I have to wait another week to know my admissions status is driving me insane! But she has a point, if I was wait listed I would rather learn that from a letter than my online status.

just seems ironic to me that they would say this because they let everyone who didnt get an interview via status page first (then took it back) and let them know again.. (talk about harsh...)👎
I honestly would rather learn asap about my status then wait for a letter...
just my humble and honest opinion..😳
oh well... good luck to us all:luck::luck::luck::xf:

Same here. Letting us all know online guarantees we all find out the same time. Definitely makes more sense to me and prob save them from a few impatient phone calls

Good morning folks!!

I spoke with a woman in the admission's office - the letters were mailed out yesterday!!! Figure in a day or a little more for the letters to get through the campus mail system, and then they are off to us via the USPS.

this is ridiculous! i totally agree with you guys that they should just post it on our status pages and we all find out at the same time! silliness. but, whatever. i wonder how come last time i applied the turn around was so fast? (1 week!)

I think they should send an email. Saves paper and saves us th agony of waiting! And it's still more personal than the status page.

True! That would be the most ideal. Just think, if they did do e-mails we'd all know by now...

On a completely different note, does anyone know if/how out of state residents can gain in-state residency after being accepted?

To my understanding you can't 🙁 unless you've lived in Illinois for at least a year before enrolling in classes. Bummer I know.

Not even if you marry an Illinois resident? Or work part-time for a year while in school?
That's really depressing if there's no way to get residency without taking a year off...

It's possible, it's just not very easy. If you go to illinois.edu and do a search for residency, the faq page pops up.

I'd assume you can do it by marrying an Illinois resident.

That's how a lot of med schools in Illinois do it (I think some vet schools do too but I am not so sure.) That would definitely be ideal!

In other news, let the mailman stalking begin!!!!

I don't like how quiet this thread is...I had to go to the second page to find it! Don't freak out...no letters yet here in central illinois.

No letters in northern illinois today....
🙁

Maybe tomorrow....

How many people got letters for their interview before the online status page changed (officially) and how many got their letters after?
I want to say my status page changed before I actually got a letter, but I could be misremembering because of the glitch they had. I'm assuming they're going to time the online updates at about the same time as they did for the interviews.

If I remember from last year the pages changed for admissions after the letters were received (unless there was a change that granted acceptance from a waitlist or the mail was lost during delivery)

Anyone get a letter in the mail from U of I today??? This wait is driving me crazy - I don't expect to get my letter until Wednesday...

No letters in central illinois....anyone in champaign waiting on a letter?

I got my letter from MN that was dated march 5 today... So I should receive my letter from Illinois by wed. That is... If the school mailing office has it together.... Crosses fingers... I want to know already!!!

I just got the letter today- ALTERNATE....boo. Oh well, I guess I'll just be playing the waiting game for a few more MONTHS......

I live in Richmond, VA- so, if you guys haven't gotten them yet, you should REALLY soon!

Good luck to everybody!!! I want to see some happy posts announcing acceptances!

I'm from MA and I got my letter today too. I'm on the alternate list as well, which is kind of disappointing because I loved the program, but at least it makes my decision about going to KSU a lot easier. So, I'm just going to have to decline my alternate spot.

well considering my letter for interview got lost in the mail, i'm not expecting the FAILman to deliver this vital piece of paper in any sort of a timely manner... 😡 welcome to chicago, "the city that works"... not really. 😉

😀im in northern illinois and no letter today.....

BUT i did get an acceptance to MN today and I like it a whole bunch more than illlinois....

hahaha

Got my letter today, too, and I live in Houston, TX. I'm also an alternate. :[ sigh.

What the heck...how did those letters get to all corners of the US but NOT to central illinois....

erm...can we please re-direct posts on here to discussing Illinois letters? no offense but the Minnesota thread is like...right there to post about your letters from them.....

🙁

No letter in Alabama today... NOW the mail man stalking really begins!

I'm in Colorado & I got my alternate status tonight in the mail. Bummer!
How does the saying go? "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride..."
This is the 3rd time I've been notified of alternate status this year!

I'm no rocket scientist, but it sounds like to me they sent out alternate letters first and the acceptances to follow. How else could alternate letters make it all over the country without anyone getting an acceptance?

Apologies... Didn't mean to start anything... Only reason I mentioned MN was to show the amount of turnover time in the mail... To give Illinois hopefuls an idea of when their letter would arrive... I'm guessing tomorrow 🙂.

I'm hoping that's the case and that's why I haven't gotten one yet! 🙂 They also maybe sent the out of states first, everyone that is getting letters today seems to be from out of state. I AM out of state now, but I'm a resident. So maybe that's why the letters made it to VA and TX but not down here.
