Not sure but there are city buses for sure. If you go to the Iowa trasit site you can tell the start and stop points and they give you exactly which route to take.
Also for those looking at apartments 700 with utilities is probably not too different from 500 without, at least in the winter when heat can be a lot. I say go for utilities included whenever you can and have one less thing to worry about.
Thanks for the info! I actually looked at apartments most of today, and the Oakcrest/W. Benton/Myrtle area does have city buses going thru.
I thought utilities bills (heat+water+gas+electricity) usually run around $100 if you don't go crazy w/ the thermostat/faucets/appliances? $200 sounds like a lot, but I guess I'll have to pay for whatever I use now since I just signed the lease for an apartment w/o utilities.
🙄
For those of you still looking for apartments, here are a few I looked at today that seemed promising.
From Heritage Property Management
31, 35, 41 Valley Ave: 0.5mile/8min walk from MERF; heat, water, internet included in rent ($650 for 1bd/1bath, $495 for efficiency); outside reserved parking $480/year, coin-operated laundry on-site
707-815 Oakcrest St: 1.2mile from MERF, city bus line in front of building; heat, water, internet, outside reserved parking included in rent ($530 for 1bd/1bath); coin-operated laundry on-site
The building managers for 20, 24, 30 Lincoln Ave. are almost impossible to reach.
From North Bay Company
832 Oakcrest: 1.2mile from MERF, on city bus line; heat, water included in rent ($490 for efficiency); coin-operated laundry on-site
1012 Newton Road: 0.5mile/8min walk from MERF; heat, water included in rent ($800 for 2bd/1bath); coin-operated laundry on-site
Hope the info helps a bit. There seems to be quite a few people looking for apartments, so I'm not sure how long these would remain available.
