Hi-
I am an Iowa resident and am interviewing at Iowa on the 10th of october and I had some questions for people applying right now that have already interviewd and people who got into Iowa in previous years.
I was wondering if people have already had interviews (for regular decision) and how to prepare for them? Since my interview is in early October, am I one of the first interviewees the school will see, or have they been interviewing for a while?
I looked on the interiview link on studentdoctor.net and it seems like they ask 4 questions, and some people get the same questions and some don't... so is there a format? Or shoudl i just be prepared for anything?
Also because the interview is closed -file, should I bring up my experiences that I think are relevant into the interview... or should I avoid those?
Also, I was wondering if anyone was willing to share their own personal experiences and stats.. such as if you got in, when did you interview, when did you find out that you got in.. what were your grades, mcat scores and relevant experiences (did you apply as a college graduate, or were you still in school)?
thanks!!!

Will I find out before December if I am accepted or if my application is being held for later review? If any of you

They have recently started the interview cycle (for regular decision).

If interviews are the same as last year, you'll be asked a series of standard questions. With respect to the standard questions, they cannot give you verbal or nonverbal feedback to your answers. So when you're done with your answer and they're looking at you stonefaced, don't keep on talking out of nervousness. After finishing with the standard questions they are free to ask you whatever they would like. Often they ask follow-up questions to the answers you gave to the standard questions.

In my opinion, you should only bring them up if they're relevant. It's ok to 'sell yourself', just don't brag about yourself.

If you PM me, I will be happy to share stats with you or answer any of your burning questions. I applied late (end of November) and was interviewed in late January. By that time, rolling admissions had ended and I was placed in the final pool. I was accepted in early March.

You may be accepted before December. If you don't get accepted during 'rolling admissions' (and aren't rejected) you will enter the final applicant pool. Final decisions from the final applicant pool are made in mid March.
