University of Kentucky Class of 2016 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I definitely got higher in the chemistry section of the PCAT when I had only had 1 month of organic compared to the second time I took it when I had a full semester of it.

Oh goodness. I really hope they don't make us wait that long, and I hope I find out before pre-professional day. I'd feel like quite an outsider if that were the case. And I really should have done early decision, but was told (wrongly I might add) that I needed to have some Organic before I took the PCAT. Trust me, it didn't help my Chem score. But I've heard from a few people that there are still plenty of spots remaining. Also, would you suggest taking Biochem during the summer?

That stinks about the misinformation. The first time I took the PCAT (and the only score they actually had when I was accepted as September scores weren't in) I hadn't had organic at all yet! And having a month of organic really didn't boost it that much in September, either.

I've thought about taking biochem in the summer, too. Do you know anywhere that's offering it as a summer course? I haven't had any luck.

Well I'm thinking a few places in VA might have it, I'm pretty close to the border so I may just hop over there an take it. Financial aid during the summer stinks anyways, so might as well just pay out of pocket.

Interesting they told you March 1st you would hear something because I've heard from a few people that they are opening up March 7th as ANOTHER interview date.

I think UK's process of informing potential candidates as to their overall status is quite ridiculous when compared to other institutions. Every other school I have applied to has not only been more inviting/welcoming, but they have also given me an expedited answer. I interviewed at UK in November and have not been rejected, nor accepted, however I have been accepted at other schools and am faced with paying deposits to reserve my spot while I wait months and months for UK to give me a decision. A faculty member put it perfectly, they are losing a ton of quality applicants by waiting so long to make their decisions. Good luck to all, but UK's process is aganizingly painful and slow, and personally it's really put me off now that I see how other places handle admissions.

So I know I'm reaching for the stars here, but has anyone heard anything from them yet? The closer it gets to March 1rst the more anxious I get. I don't think they'll deny anyone, since they said there was still a lot of spots left. Anyone with any info, let me know lol.

They actually said they had a lot of competitive applicants this time, and because of that they're doing more interviews. There's another interview day set for March 7.

I know they interviewed about 200 last year, and of those somewhere around 160 were accepted to fill the class of 135 - so a lot more got accepted than denied out of the people who got interviews.

I know that the odds are in your favor if you get an interview, but it's the waiting that's killing me lol. I have a friend who was about to go to orientation at another school when UK contacted him. I don't want that to be me lol. If you have any inside info, feel free to share it.

I'm not on the admissions committee. All I can say is, if you got an interview you're more likely to be accepted than not. I was actually wait listed and accepted in June last year.

Just got my acceptance letter this morning. It looks like they are notifying people today.

Kind of sucks because I dropped $500 last night to reserve my spot at UT because the deadline was this morning . Oh well, I'm excited I was finally accepted to my school of choice.

Just got an acceptance email!!! I am SO happy! I did not think I'd go to UK before my interview, but the interview day changed my mind completely. They've been my top choice since then! Now all I need to do is to pay that $1000... ouch...

Congrats to everyone else who has been accepted!!! Can't wait to meet y'all! 🙂

Got my email, accepted, paid the deposit and joined the Facebook page lol. So happy for all of yo all.

Anyone looking for housing or a roommate? There are almost no posts on the Facebook page!

Hi Yall,
I just turned down my acceptance at UK. I had already paid the deposit :/ which sucks but I changed my mind. Either way, good luck to yall!

Well I'll be looking for a roomie eventually, once I figure out where I want to live lol, and what my finances are gonna look like.

Unless you're from the area and know it well, you probably want to talk to someone to get some suggestions on housing.

Yea I will post something on the group page on facebook about that.

Can anyone post a link to the facebook page? I can't seem to find it...unless it's posted in this thread, which case I haven't checked.

got my acceptance this morning!! so excited!!! interviewed february 16th!
