Decided to start a thread and see how everyone is doing regarding this year's application process to the UPitt BMP program.

Good luck everyone.

Has anyone read their page about linkage to UPitt SOM? It doesn’t sound like a linkage at all. It sounds like just a generic application process. “Our linkage program is that you apply like everyone else and then we decide after your interview if we want to admit you.”

I just submitted my application! Good luck to everyone too. Ugh this part is stressful but hopefully we'll make it guys. I heard theyre accepting 60 students this round but not sure about that exact number. LMK stats and etc. I applied with a 3.27 cumGPA, no MCAT scores but over 900+ hours in volunteering/shadowing/clinical experiences combined. I have experience in International volunteering and Im a bio pre med major. GOOD LUCK YOU GUYS. please keep this thread posted! I wanna know how everyone is doing, and that were in this together!

I believe that the UPitt linkage is fairly standard. You would need to indicate an interest for the linkage program, maintain a 3.7 gpa throughout BMP and have a certain MCAT score (seems from previous years it has been a 33-36). They do take into consideration that you are a linkage student.

Good luck to you as well! I haven't heard anything and there isn't really an active community of people who seemed to have applied. I just want to know if they have sent out interviews already and what the timeline of admission looks like.

Thanks!! Have you applied? I heard the wave really "crashes" near the deadline so sometime around June. But applying early seems to have helped! I want to know too... I'm an out of state applicant and I don't know how competitive the program is. What's your stats? if you dont mind me asking!

Hey, I am a graduating senior at university of pittsburgh and am in close contact with the medical school staff. The linkage agreement they have is that if you had between a 3.7-4.0 in undergrad and maintain a 3.75 in the program, you are guaranteed an interview at the medical school the following fall after finishing the program.

I have just submitted my application and am waiting!!! I know a friends who go to pitt with me who just had their interview! They applied in Jan and had their interview 2 weeks ago and said it was very laid back! Hopeful for myself and you others who have already submitted!

Hey!! do you mind sharing your stats?! I wish the best of luck to all of us!! How soon did they found out if they got an interview after they turned in the application?

Hey guys, just keeping you updated. I got a letter in the mail and sadly I didn't get into the program. I still wish you guys all the luck and wishes hearing back.

Hey, sorry about that, I am nervous about this program's acceptance and I know several of my friends who applied that are graduating with me from pitt this spring didn't get in so its pretty competitive, dont feel too down.

If you don't mind asking, not your stats, but when did you fully submit your application and how long did it take for them to get back to you?

Earlier you had mentioned that your friend applied to the program in January and had their interview in mid-March. I was wondering if they received a decision yet? Just trying to get a sense of the timeline after the interview process!

They received their decision a week or so after their interview!

Just found out that I was accepted today!!! Good luck to everyone 🙂
Congrats! May I ask, when did you recieved your interview? How was the interview? Easy? Difficult? Also how they notify your acceptance?

I’m sorry I’m asking so many questions.
I submitted my application 2 days ago.

Thank you! I personally found the interview pretty relaxed and standard questions but I'd imagine that may vary with your interviewer! I was notified of my acceptance via e-mail and then a printed letter in the mail a few days after that. Good luck!!!

THank you!

How long after you submitted your application did you received an interview? And how long after the interview were you notified of your acceptance?

I heard back that I had received an interview about a week after I submitted my application and about 2 weeks after my interview I was notified of my acceptance!

Just finished up an interview with them for the Fall 2019 class. Anybody else accepted yet?

It was very relaxed. We had some technical problems with the sound but overall it went well. 3.5 GPA, 2.9 SGPA, 486 MCAT. Poor stats but they asked about my research and my last 3 semesters I got a 4.0 GPA. Good luck!

Update I was accepted into the program and will attend this fall. Good luck to everyone.

Congrats! I’m going through this thread now as im applying to the program next year. How do you like it so far?

I really like the program. They give you much more than just science courses. The MCAT prep, shadowing experiences they coordinate, ample volunteer and clinical experiences they offer. I feel like I am building a strong application for the 2021 cycle

Hey PapaGrill, I’m just wondering if anyone in your class actually got considered for Pitt SOM linkage program? How hard is it to get an interview through the linkage agreement?

Hey! So yes a few people did apply for the linkage i'm not sure exactly how many people but I believe its around 4-6 total. I also believe they all got interviews and are currently waiting to hear back.

Just wanted to give an update. There were 4 people who applied, all 4 received interviews and were accepted into the program!

Thanks for sharing!

So, what's the "take"?
If it's a class of 60 students why did only 4-6 students apply to the linkage? I understand some may want to go back near their home or would like some options, but I don't understand how so many would miss the opportunity of a linkage to one of the top medical school in the country.

Website now says that MCAT is NOT a pre-req for the linkage.
It just sounds too good to be true...

I would love your insights
