I just signed up for 1-1:30 on Friday, March 24. Now I'm looking at the letter and it says the essay will be from 4:30-5. Does this mean I have to wait for 3 hours? 😕

i called like 10 times before that i got through! i have mine at 3pm on friday--i tried to get it close to the essay time so that it wouldnt be too long. see you there!

Good choice. Tech is an outstanding school. I think you'll come away much better prepared than if you'd gone to Houston. Besides, I agree...Houston sucks.

Why do you think Texas Tech is better than Houston? I just want everyone's opinion incase I have to decide between the two. Texas Tech seems more stressful based on the class load compared to UH. Do y'all agree?

I personally prefer Houston over Tech... With Houston your last 2 years are at the TMC (Tx Medical center) and you get plenty of oppurtunities to interact with pharmacists and other medical professionals. It will def. be a plus when trying to find internships or rotations... I picked Houston, and declined Tech.

oh btw Houston has an awesome work out facility... and I'm big on that as well.

... But they are both great schools, you just need to see what fits you better.

i chose tech for several reasons...for one, i am from a small town. i just felt more at home in amarillo than houston. i also dont feel like dealing with traffic every single day of my life, so i am going to have an apartment less than 5 minutes from the school. the cost of living is going to be much cheaper in amarillo than houston as well. and with tech, you get to choose between staying there, going to lubbock, or dallas in your last 2 years. and as far as working out...tech students get a free membership to the local gym....gold's or something like that.....i loved the tx medical center when i interviewed in houston. the people at the school were very nice and very helpful. if you can deal with the big city, im sure its a wonderful place to be.

It's YOUR opinion that ultimately counts. Go with the school that best meets your requirements. In all honesty, all three schools (UT,TT, UH) are outstanding schools where you will get a very high quality education. Go where your heart leads you.

It's all what you put into it anyway. BEST of LUCK with your decision.

Be careful with the local gym... heard it wasnt a very safe area...

Cost of living at tech is def. a plus... and from my past experience people from smaller towns do prefer amarillo. And oh yeah no traffic, w/ in 5 mins from school... all those add up as well. 🙂

I agree that all 3 schools are a great choice, just gotta figure out what "you" want. 🙂

i was not as stressed as i thought that i would be! except the traffic--IH35 was packed at like 1pm on a friday! talk about road rage for me!

If the people at UT are any indication, it's no wonder why they are such a highly rated program.

I was so impressed with everyone's courtesy and enthusiasm. I had a wonderful interview with a true gentleman. Who could ask for much more?

The application process had soured my opinion somewhat before the interview, but I can tell you now that there is no doubt that THIS IS THE PLACE!! (to quote Brigham Young).

I now have vivid visions of UT acceptance letters dancing in my head.

I was there Friday. It went pretty well I think, but the day was loooong. I had the 1 pm interview but didn't actually get interviewed until later b/c my interviewer changed. But wow, I really loved Austin!

Yea, my interviewer and students also told me that I will definitely hear back by the last week of march. I believed them.... Until I looked at posts from last year.... and yep, the rest heard back in late may/early june(even though, they were also told last week of march)... Who knows?.. maybe they're trying something different this year. Doubtfull. Have u heard from another school? It makes the wait more bearable.

According to the professor with whom I interviewed, notification of acceptance for those having interviewed on March 24th and 25th will occur in the third week of April.

But, maybe for the ones that they absolutely love -- it'll be sooner. Like that1guy and vicky got their acceptance letter in about 2 wks!

When I called the school they said "No News is good news" -- meaning if they dont like u, they are quick in sending rejection letters. Or thats how I interpreted it. The wait just sucks! *sigh*

See, I completmente agree with you guys that if things go according to what we were told, we will hear a yes/no this week. Try doing a search on this forum --- for UT Austin and read the posts from Last year... (you see I was really anxious and was trying to find anything and everything about there admission process...)

Anyhow, there were some posts from people that said they were re-applicants and so didnt have to interview again (this was last year). But they were told that specifically by the school. So I'm guessing they were just put in the applicant pool and re-evaluated... and I think a few of them did get in!

Either way -- if u havent called the school yet -- I dont see any harm in you calling them to find out about their process.

Try doing a search on this forum --- for UT Austin and read the posts from Last year... (you see I was really anxious and was trying to find anything and everything about there admission process...)

Anyhow, there were some posts from people that said they were re-applicants and so didnt have to interview again (this was last year). But they were told that specifically by the school. So I'm guessing they were just put in the applicant pool and re-evaluated... and I think a few of them did get in!

thanks for your help...actually i had started a thread about reapplicants a few weeks ago and someone had posted that they have a source at UT who told them that they probably wont have to interview again but i don't think anyone has posted this year that they were notified by the school of this, so i guess ill call them tomorrow and see...thanks again and good luck to you too!!

Does anybody know how many people they interviewed so far and how many more are to come? Also, how many do they accept? I think last year they accepted around 130?!
I had an interview this past Saturday (3/25) and thought it went really well. They didn't ask me any "trick" questions and it was very casual.

Yeah its tough waiting... it helps a lil if u have another school of your choice lined up.. but still the wait kills me!

But there's nothing we can do... I honestly think that all the people that interviewed at UT and thought it went well WILL get in... specially the folks on SDN. So dont worry... try and relax and enjoy this time. (easier said than done!)

i lost track of who was getting accepted by the end. and the thread died a little early. not many ppl came back on to say they were accepted or rejected except for a small handfull. someone threw out a figure claiming there were about 20 spots available by the time the final pool was being considered in May. don't know how reliable that information was/is. Yep I agree with you on the checking email stuff. Everytime I get on the forum and see that one of you February interviewees wrote something, my heart jumps in my freaking throat!! 😀 ... I get scared cos I'm like OMG they got an email and that's why they're posting 😀... but yes, the checking of emails is definitley getting old... who in here really thinks anyone is gonna hear something tommorow.. 3/31??.. anyone??... I check SDN before I check my e-mail for the same reasons!!! I doubt we will hear anything tommorrow. I'm very glad I'm accepted at UH but I just need to know my status with UT so that I can start making plans for housing and whatnot.

My suggestion is, if you've been accepted to UH, TT, or TSU then go ahead and accept and leave UT for people like me! hahahahaha. I'm in the same boat and I was wondering if anyone else was checking the UT thread like every 30 mins to see if someone else got in, hahahaha. I totally agree with u on that... they should give a more accurate time-line. its not like this "excess of applicants" situation is happening for the first time... they should adjust their process accordingly & make it more efficient. But i think the fact that they are #2 in the nation --- gives them the assurity that people will wait for them... and even if they dont tell us until end of may... we'll still pick their school... and even if we dont... there are tons willing to take our place.

I dont think i'll hear anything until april end or may... so anxiety is sloooooooowly dying down... Zzzzzzzzzz 😴

I'm not sure about you early interviewees, but for those of us who were interviewed on the 24th/25th I was told that we would hear from UT during the third week in April (this is from my interviewer, Dr. Lawson).
