Received a letter of acceptance yesterday! I was surprised at how fast they got back to me (I didn't even tell them to speed up the review process), but it's definitely better than the waiting game 🙂

Congratulations! I was accepted too. Have you decided if you're going to attend UW?

I would love to! But I am waiting to see where my husband gets into grad school. We will be making our decision then. There is no interview day per se. You can just go in for your interview and leave. It's in your best interest to attend the coffee hour because you will get a small introduction and get to talk to the students. The interview itself is 30 minutes with 3 faculty members or alumni. I really liked the actual interview; it was very relaxing and they really demonstrated that they had studied my application (one of the interviewers mentioned a small detail I had in my personal statement; I was very surprised) and genuinely wanted to see who I was. This was my best interview so far!

Got my interview coming up next week (they only gave me a week notice!! I guess thats what I get for applying last minute). Anyway I was wondering how long after the interview you got your acceptance letters. Also can you please send a link for common interview questions? I cant find them!! Thanks

Here's the link for the sample interview questions: http://studentdoctor.net/schools/school/uw-pharm/survey/26. Scroll down to the bottom and click on questions. They told me that they would get back to me within a week. I got accepted 3 days after my interview. Good luck!

Has anyone who interviewed on 2/7 or 2/8 heard back from the school yet??

I received a letter of acceptance today (interviewed 2/11)!!

I'm probably going to go there as well! Where are you guys coming from and where do you guys plan on living??

Hey guys! Congratz on the acceptance! I'm currently a UW student and I live near campus. If any of you need recommendation or help, just let me know. 🙂

Yes please! Where do you live now? I was looking into the Cedar or the Mercer Apartments but I'm a little confused with how the parking works with those locations. They told me that I had to get a Single Occupancy permit for the quarter and then pay additional (per day for $7.50) if I leave my car there during breaks. Is that what students who live there with cars do? Because that's incredibly pricey and is one of the main reasons why I don't think I'll be living there.

Where do you live right now? Is it on one of the campus housing listed on the UW housing and services page? I'm also looking into Nordheim Court because the parking there seems at least decent. Also, do a lot of graduate students live in Nordheim Court or is it mostly undergraduates?

Thanks a lot!

I have already accepted! Yay! Can't wait to meet all of you! 🙂 I live in the eastside (Redmond), so I'm not much help.

I am not sure, I still have another interview coming up, but it is in my top 2 for sure. I am from Wisconsin, so I definitely need help deciding where to live if I go here!

Congrats to everyone as well 🙂

I received an email a few weeks ago that they were reviewing my application. Then about ten days ago they emailed me to get a syllabus for my biochemistry and o chem lab and to verify I was taking microeconomics and public speaking this semester. I haven't heard anything more from them now and seems like every one's application are getting reviewed and processed fairly quickly. I'm only taking economics to satisfy UW's prerequisite so I want to be able to drop in time to get my money back if I didn't get accepted or denied an interview.

Did anybody else interview at WSU and UW? Im having trouble deciding between which school to go to. WSU seemed more close knit and it felt more community oriented, while UW was the opposite and it there is greater emphasis on research. The curriculum at WSU seemed to be better in my opinion, jumping straight into Pharmacology seems better than taking 3 quarters of A&P. But the UW is more prestigious in Washington and there seem to be more opportunities once school is finished. I would like to know why people who were accepted into both programs chose the school they did, because I am having a hard time deciding between the two.

Nope, undergrads don't live there because I am an undergrad and I never heard of them lol. And if I were you, I wouldn't live in the campus especially if I have a car! The parking is ridiculously expensive and to be honest, I only live on campus for three months in my freshman year so I don't have much to say. All the graduates I know live off campus and there are a lot great apartments of walkable distance to the university. (If you have made your mind living on-campus, please ignore the rest of the post.) :scared:
The price range is around $500 - $800 (parking usually $80 a month or less+ some apart. Water/Sewer/Garbage included) if you are looking for a studio. It's cheaper if you want to share a one-bedroom apartment or anything like that. I would recommend you looking at craigslist and search either UW or U district.
Hope that helps! I will try my best.😳

I am a UW student and I really like UW because besides its reputation, its location is pretty nice and really makes my college life easier. Basically you can get anything (food, bookstore, safeway, bartell drugs, walgreens) on the university district which is only 10 min walk from the pharmacy building. You can also take the shuttle to the district and the stop is right in front of the building. You have access to many transportations. The hospital is next to the pharmacy school too. So lots of opportunities after you graduate or during the pharmacy year. Anyways, excuse my poor english, even though I haven't been to WSU, I would definitely choose UW. And you get to see cherry blossom when the spring comes. :naughty:
Hope that helps.

I'm sorry I forgot to mention. I live in Radford Court. It's a really nice community and parking is free. :naughty: You get to use UW internet, for free, which is super fast. There is a 75 bus that take you directly to the pharmacy school.
P.S. you could also search U village in craigslist-- apt/room renting site.

All that stuff is true, but the same could be said about WSU.

I am a current UW student and i had both the WSU and UW interviews. I got the same exact feeling when i went to the UW and WSU interviews. WSU seemed friendlier and community oriented based on what I saw during the interview. UW didn't seem like it because I think there were only about 4-8 students per interview day. But I've been to UW my entire 4 yrs in undergrad and now in pharmacy school and I love this school. My pharmacy class is awesome! I feel so grateful to a part of this school and have met so many great people.

The one great thing I like about not jumping straight into pharmacy and Pharmacology is because you get a review before jumping into all the harder concepts. Each class builds on top of each other and if you're iffy on some parts of the basic concepts, you'll probably have a slightly harder time in the core classes. That's just my input – some people may have other opinions. But I felt the exact same way when I got into both WSU and UW, wondering whether I want to go to a school that jumped right into pharmacy courses or a school that provided some basic review first. I think that it was much helpful to have the review courses. … Besides, if the "review" classes such as A/P classes are easy for you, then it should be an easy 4.0 class 😉

But don't just look at UW as the more prestigious school in WA – think about what you like about the curriculum and people at each school before deciding. I have a friend that graduated at WSU and she has a wonderful job, so both schools are great! I hope this helps a bit! 🙂

I was wondering if there are any current students that commute and if so what are your thought on it?

We have a LOT of students that commute. A few come to class from as far as Tacoma to the South and Marysville to the North so it is definitely doable even from that far.
If you weren't thinking that far away, the bus system in Seattle is awesome and part of your fees give you a pass to get on any of the buses pretty much unlimited for each quarter (it's a serious discount from paying the real prices).

How far away do you live/are looking at living?

I currently have a house in Puyallup and was considering the taking the sounder then a bus but I am not that familiar with how long it would take to get to UW using those methods.

It feels like it might take at least an hour...

You will need to go to Downtown Seattle (577 or 578 from Puyallup I think? Maybe there's other ones that I don't know of), then take 71, 72, 73, or 74 to go to UW.
I've done Federal Way to UW on most weekends and it's been 1.5 hours w/o traffic and this includes time in between bus transfer. The bus I take from Federal Way comes from Puyallup, and plus I-5 will be packed with cars on weekday morning...Downtown to UW on weekday morning bus route is on express so it should be theoretically faster than on weekends but if you consider all those people going to work/school on weekday morning then I think it'll take you anywhere between an hour to 1.5 hours..
Hope this helps a little bit!

Thank you for the routes and information. Very helpful!

It would definitely take a significant amount of time to get to UW from Puyallup. If you don't mind getting up crazy early I guess that would be doable but just a warning... classes for first years started at 8 or 8:30 am most days this year!

Edit// There's also a Tacoma to UW Express bus (ST 586) that doesn't stop between the Tacoma Dome and campus.

Hi for those who have experienced in applying for residency status,
I am an out of state student from CA who got accepted into both WU and WSU. As an out of state student, if in state tuition is not granted, I will be paying 174K as a tuition fee for 4 years at UW verse 97K at WSU.
I am wondering whether a student can appeal for residency status since I have no family tie in CA and I am willing to stay in WA if I have an opportunity to work in the ares of my interest as a pharmacist.
I don't know what to decide even though UW is my top choice. I am not sure I can afford to pay of my loan if I go to UW since I also have undergraduate student loans as well. If anyone can contribute any advice, I would really appreciate it.

UW has a page regarding WA state residency questions:

I finally got an interview!

They give us so many choices for interview dates. Do they interview in batches or just a couple of applicants per AM/PM session? Thanks

When I interviewed last year there were only 3 of us that day. UW does lots of smaller groups instead of big batches.

In the email, it mentions an optional Skype interview. To me, This is the first pharmacy school that offers an online interview. I'm planning on flying there because I don't think an online interview would give either party a great impression. Has anyone done it through Skype?

Congrats! I just got one yesterday too! Maybe I'll see you next week 🙂

I saw a post in last year's UW thread about someone doing a Skype interview, and if I remember correctly, that applicant was accepted.

Hey, congrats to you as well! When is your interview date? I just set up mine to be on 3/20.

It seems like the interview session is really short: just an oral interview with optional one-hour welcome and Q/A and campus tour (or just a building tour?) at 12:30p. Is this correct?

Yes, it's pretty short - you just come in for the optional tour/meet & greet, do your interview at your scheduled time and then it's over 🙂

Mine is Monday the 18th! I wanted Wednesday, but oh well

Hey guys, there's one more spot open for you now 🙂 since I just withdrew my application 🙁 I really loved UW but it's not an option for me anymore. Good luck to the rest of you, hope you love UW as much as I did!

Hey, best wishes to you, wherever you decide go! :luck: Did you decide on Colorado or another school?
