lol it's prolly just me but it's rare that i feel a university is genuinely interested in knowing more about their applicants - perhaps the way they word those emails..
i coulden't agree with you more. we're not a number to them lol. a rejection would really hurt because it seems like an amazing place with a great faculty(and that's what is scarring me the most - a rejection 👎)
Completely agree with you guyz. But my opinion is a bit biased since I am a UW undergrad. lol. I just dont want to leave the awesome place.yea! admin is so nice there..i talked to louise last summer on the phone about prereqs and she was really patient with me
and esp coming from a uni that does treat me like a number..waterloo's a big contrast. hah
Is anyone else having trouble thinking about what to say in the first 5-10 minutes of the interview?
im definatly having the same problem. I am also in the exam season with exams before and after the interview, so its the greatest time of my life ! lol
the last time I did a presentation was in high school so I hope its going to be fun.
omg me too..an exam on mon and weds following that weekend..😱😱

haha yea..when do you end exams?
in done on may8th so i guess everything works out for the best since my exams were spread apart and the interview fell in well into the scheduale
what about you, any exams before the interview?
lol i have the other problem. mine is most likely too short. Its around 7 minutes right now but I tend to talk super fast in comparison to when i practice..lol
what are u guys gonna talk about in your 10 min thing...i decided to talk about my research..mmm
lol! i think that's good length..you don't want to bore your listeners either right? haha
i'm actually most worried about the ethical/situational questions they'll ask.
I've been in dance my whole life so i'm talking about training and performing.
interview:
could've been better.. interviewers were the nicest ppl i've met lol. i think my answers were too long (i hope i didn't sound like i was rambling) to the point where they probably didn't have time to ask other types of questions. they only asked me behavioural types when i had expected more ethical/on the spot kinda questions. hope they won't have negative impression of my "interviewing time management" lol
article: YES, very very brutal. 8 pages on FED-drinkers (dunno what you guys got) but i only managed to write up to 2 lines of the discussion, which is like one of the most important parts of the summary. took took long just reading everything over, trying to understand it, etc. by the time i started writing i already felt screwed.
Hey Shun, You are damn right, I had the same article, and I could only manage to write two to three lines of the article plus if you had noticed the author had three different aims of of the objective. It got so confusing, and all those abbrev. you must read everything so carefully, I feel so annoyed by the fact that discussion was not even clear on what they established. Lol I bull****ed lots of stuff at end....I basically had twenty minutes left, buy you are right there is no way we can undestand what the hell the discussion was trying to say and summarize it in 50minutes of time span....
so how do you think they are going to weight the interview and the writing section?
im thinking a 30% interview and 70% writing section

well im just thinking of these figures because the interviewers really arn't part of the school so they really can't have the upper hand in determining if a student gets in or not. for example I asked them a question about the school (most of my questions i planned to ask were about the school) and they just looked at each other and said we can't answer this questionso how do you think they are going to weight the interview and the writing section?
