UNLV interview Feb 4th. Anyone else?

I'm a DS1 at UNLV and from what I have heard they are saving 8 spots in the class of 2014 for students that may be remediating. That is why they are only accepting 72 people right now. I really don't think that they are going to need all 8 seats for students remediating, so I would expect that they will be accepting a few more students this summer. keep you head up!
 
Apparently they made decisions about the first years, and they said it was in favor of the waitlist people, so i am assuming they don't have to hold many spots for the first years who didn't that well. They said we should know soon, but who knows....
 
how did you hear from them (email, AADSAS, phone call, snail mail)?
 
Man.. I have not heard ANYTHING from UNLV since like.. January..... hahahha

Were you on the waitlist HammieDDS? And if you don't mind me asking what did your stats look like?
 
Has anyone heard any news lately? The last info I received was that the committee met May 25th and to call back on June 1st if I don't hear anything beforehand. The wait is killing me!! 😕
 
I emailed Dr. Ancajas and she told the committee will most likely look at Nevada residents first. Are most of you guys waiting from Nevada?
 
Nope I haven't heard anything, but I do realize that they already met a few days after the Feb interview ended and put some people on the wait list. I kept reading and hearing that the committee was not going to meet until..first they said end of March, then April, then June. It seems like that they did meet and already put some spring interviewees on the wait list. At least that's how I see it since some people on SDN was put on the wait list after their spring interview. And it seems like 2 weeks ago, after the May 1st deadline they accepted some people off the wait list. More than likely the class is full after they sent out those acceptances to people like bruins and hammie. I say this because if people have not withdrawn from UNLV this late in the cycle, they are most likely waiting for an acceptance from them and will go there once they get the offer. I wish I knew they met and sent out wait list notifications for the February interviewees earlier because not getting on the wait list after the interview...you know more than likely you won't get accepted. Then I could have accepted the fact and moved on with my life. Like someone said in another thread, if you're not on the wait list now..chances are slim that you'll get an offer.
 
Actually, I'm not sure if being on the waiting list is the best thing. There were people put on the waiting list who interviewed in December, and then people who interviewed after them in Jan or Feb were accepted. If the school has sent some rejections to people who interviewed in the spring, then if you have not been waitlisted you are probably in the pile of people they would like to accept. I remember the school saying that many out-of-state students get accepted to their state school later in the cycle, like around June. So, I would expect that in the next few weeks or so more spots will open up. Also, were Bruins and Hammie waitlisted??? I'm not from Nevada...but I loved UNLV!!
 
I believe that bruins and hammie were on the wait list and got accepted off the wait list. That makes me believe that being on the wait list is better than not because they will be accepting students off the wait list if they have spots. This is just all speculation and I still have hope of getting in even though I'm part of the no decision people.
 
at the sim course may 14th ancajas gave a presentation and said 69 positions were filled, so that leaves 11. But i dont know how many in or out of state they have left. And has anyone since the january 28th interview or later heard anything cause i havent heard of anyone getting news.

Oh really? That is really good to hear! Thank you so much for the information. I am keeping my hopes alive. The wait is killing me as some of us who's in the same situation would know. Let's hope we hear some good news come June. Thank you again for the information, and thanks to everyone who's been keeping us updated about whether you guys are getting acceptances, wait lists or rejections. Any bit of information helps.
 
Yeah she also said that the school had just accepted the 8 people on the waitlist, but I don't think that all of the people on the list accepted, but am not positive. Anyways, did the admissions committee actually meet on May 25th? I thought that they were going to wait until after June 1st (which is the day the second $500 deposit is due) to make any further decisions. If they did wait this would give them the advantage of knowing how many they have with more certainty.
 
Bruins or Hammie if you dont mind me asking, when did you interview?
 
I'm not interested in attending UNLV anymore, but how did people learn of their waitlist/rejection? UNLV never updated my AADSAS and I haven't receive a rejection e-mail from them yet like last cycle.
 
hey guys i interviewed the 2nd to last interview date it was somewhere near the end of feb and im an out of state applicant

So apparently they made another waitlist on May 25th and are filling their class with that list. Vicky said that they had until June 9th to confirm.

so they probably sent out notification to the people who got onto the waitlist a few days ago? Guess I am still in the no status group.

Yup I have a 2005 STi in silver, stock.

Ahh this is killing me. I really hope I hear some good news soon. =(
 
Yeah I am pretty much just getting my stuff together for a reapp at this point, I don't know if I have much hope left. But I guess there is still some semblance of hope, so good luck to you!
Thats sweet about the subaru, I have a 2004 silver WRX with a bunch of mods. Couldn't afford the STi so I had to make my own 🙂.
 
Oh nice, the WRX is a nice car. My brother has a 2006 WRX wagon and I drove it a bit recently. It's much softer and more comfortable than the STi. Sometimes I wish I had a WRX. The sti is way too stiff and bumpy. (Sorry for the hijack guys, I'll try to keep this thread on track)

I am also reapplying. I will be doing a master's program in miami while I apply this year.

So anyone get on the wait list between now and May 25th? I guess chances are low that they are on sdn if they haven't participated in this thread.
 
I called today and vicky told me that they met on May 25th and put 10 ppl on waitlist for 6 spots that are still open. If they dont get 6 responses by June 6th then they'll look at ppl that are not rejected/not waitlisted..looks like the bus ends here! good luck everyone!

Thanks for the info, so sad I wasn't on the list..and it looks like..the door is closing fast, and I guess we'll know for sure by June 6th exactly where we stand. Sigh.

Keep your head up everyone. I do remember at my interview the admissions staff saying that a decent number of people drop in June/July. Also, I'm willing to bet that some of the people they accept will have already received an acceptance from another school and are just hanging on for $hits and giggles to see if they get in. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.....:luck:

I hope that's true...I really wish that's what's going on. Yeah, best to keep positive. Thanks for the reply, it helps.
 
I just wanted to let those thinking positive know that you are keeping me from being a complete mess! THANK YOU! I feel like this is some kind of sick joke! But my little bit of hope is still alive. If anyone receives any news, whether it be wait-listed or acceptance, please let us all know. Also, what are everyones back up plans? ::Siighh:: We have to fight for this! Good luck everyone!
