UNOFFICIAL Yale Countdown

I've been waitlisted everywhere else, not like yale's gonna give me one.
they'll probably email the tier2/tier3 people tomorrow or something.

LoL premed2003, is Dick another name for Richard? Never heard of that b4

did they bcc it to those who got accepted/waitlisted? i'm hoping that silverman is behind the times and is emailing each applicant indvidually. otherwise, i'm good as rejected since i didn't get anything ye.t

I interviewed on Jan 27 & 28 (for MD/PhD).

yeah it was bcc because there weren'tany names on it..including mine..so it was a mass email..but don't losehope..especially with the way things are with the Yale email system. YUCK!.. anyway, my interview date was Feb. 26th

i'm hoping that my email account deleted yale's bcc email..heheeh.

I interviewed in mid. Nov. and have been wait-listed.

Hey at least you got something. Yale is my top coice school... and it looks like I won't even get a waitlist. :(

Yep, got my wait list around 4PM PT... Couldn't get to post it till now. Congratulations to all who got in... Best of luck to us wait listers!

C

Ok, I haven't recieved anything either. For those of you wondering, I interviewed in early September, and my last name starts with a "K".

I know my school email account will block some mass emails, so I'm not sure if I should call the school or not.

Oh well, it's not like I was actually expecting to get in anyway. :p ;)

mine starts w/ an N and i've gotten NADA.

no email here. :( so it doesn't look like i'll even be getting a waitlist. and my last name starts with a B. i have spam guard on but there isn't even anything in my bulk mail box. bleh. yeah this was my very very very first choice by a long measure.

oh well. the #2 choice is still a good one.

Not to be pessimistic, but it makes sense that us non-email-receiving rejects would be notified by mail. This would potentially save us the embarrassment of getting upset at school, work, etc. Thanks to SDN, their plan is easily foiled!

got rejection letter in pittsburgh today. 85% of the people get rejected post interview, they dont accept/waitlist too many.

g$ - I am sending telepathic messages to Yale's adcom telling them to get their thumbs out of their collective arse and send you an email already! :D :D :D

I'm thinking there's no way they could send out all the emails yesterday, because there are some really qualified SDNers (like g$) who haven't heard anything yet. Could be the committee hasn't reviewed those files yet, or they haven't sent whatever batch of emails they're supposed to get. We gotta hang tough, American Gladiators style. ;)

I'm pretty sure they're done sending e-mails. They would have finished it off this morning if they hadn't finished it last night.

hey stercel,
just wondering where you heard about the 85% post interview rejection stat? seems ridiculously high....:(

For those of you who got something in the mail (whatever it was), did it arrive at your permanent address or your preferred address? Thanks!

there is this book that only premed advisors have and mine was telling me the stats about various schools that I wait-listed and still waiting to hear. The book said that 150 acceptancies were offered for 100 spots, and the tier 1 waitlist has 50 people on it, and these are people that have the best chance. I think tier 2 has 100 people and tier 3 has 50 people if my memory is correct. I was shocked when she told me that they have this book....why can't we get it, anyone know what book i'm talking about?? I got the letter at my preferred address

What up, All?

Just received my wait list letter in the snail-mail. Regarding the email, I didn't get it until this morning (Friday, 21 March, Massachusetts). I checked and checked last night until 11:30 PM but no dice. This morning it just popped in there with at date/time stamp of 3/21/2003 12:22 AM! Wow! So either there was an email queue issue somewhere or Mr. Silverman & Co were up tres late!

The wait list letter came to my current address--not my permanent addy.

Mega-congrats to all acceptees (is that a word?)! Wait listees: I'm keepin' the faith with you!

no email, no phone call, snailmail rejection received in NYC 3/21.

i just called yale. interview season is over and ALL decisions have been mailed out. secretary said that she wasn't familiar w/ the emails that went out. i proceeded to ask her if not getting and email meant rejection. she went around the question but pretty much conceded that the two likely outcomes were 1) rejection 2) the email bounced cuz of anti-spam software. brace yourselves for the rejections. :(

This is kind of funny in a happy ending way:
I got the mail today and quickly looked through it, thinking that maybe something had come from Yale today. I didn't see anything so I put in in the vestibule (I don't know how to spell 'foyeaur'?). My mom comes up to me a couple of minutes ago and says, 'Did you look through the mail today?' and I said 'Yeah, I thought something might have come from Yale,' and I see that she's holding this extremely thin envelope.
Sure enough, a rejection.
The good news is that I got into my #1 choice, so it's okay. I'm happy for all of the future Yalies as that school was hott (with two t's), but, alas, not for me.

This whole crazy process is officially over for me. Thank God.

All the best to the future Classes of 2007 everywhere.

congrats surge on mstp - i'll see you and all others @ the revisit. stoked.

Anybody here who got in or waitlisted planning on withdrawing or turning down Yale? I'm on the waitlist and just wondering what the general sentiment is towards yale this year on sdn.

I really loved yale while I was there... but I think I will be declining my acceptance. It's a great school, but far from home and expensive given my other options in california. Good luck to those on the waitlist...

I also love Yale, but I too will be declining my acceptance. I like Yale and its programs so much that I am sad to not be going there... but I hope someone who loves the school will get my spot ;)

uh, just curious (not that i have much hope yet) but did anyone get an acceptance *letter* in the snail-mail who did not get an email? i have no email, no phone call, no letter yet. while i'm pretty dang sure this = rejection, i'm curious to see if anyone who did not get the email got anything other than a rejection in the mail.

thanks. :)

*anticipates rejection letter in the mail this afternoon*

I got waitlisted and have already given up my waitlist position.

hey goodmonkey,
I too haven't received an email, phone call, or snail mail yet. I'm from st. louis area so maybe snailmail takes 1 week to arrive out of the east coast area?
I'm also doubtful of an acceptance

I also loved Yale, pretty much everything about it...but alas I am waitlisted. I'm pretty sure I'll stay on the waitlist to see if it works out. Jot, put in the good word for me at 2nd look, ok? ;)

didn't get any email last week. found my rejection letter in the mail today. oh well..... that'd leave yale w/ the only 'unofficial' countdown thread on sdn.

yep, yogi. i'm with ya. what i do find funny, though, is that the most gung-ho peeps on this thread (like yourself and RP) were rejected, while all these random folks come on the thread with one "i got in!" post. :p

no email + no phone call = small envelope in the mail yesterday. oh well, the #2 choice is great; ann arbor here i come! go blue! :)

(sorry woots, now you can't have my umich spot, as i need to keep it for myself)
