Hey everyone,

Can anyone who has been accepted to UofM tell me what classes are D1 students are taking during the summer term. I noticed that the term is 5 weeks. Does this mean that the course load will be a bit lighter for fall or spring?

I am not really to sure what is going on
However, i remember during the interview
they said something about adding one more course (business related??) or something
that's why we are starting earlier
I also heard other people say that our course load will be lighter (more spreaded out)

When did they announce the official start date?

Well thats good. I wouldn't mind starting early, if thats the case. But on the website they do explain why classes are starting early. Basically, its a benefit for everybody. As long as the course load is lighter during one of the semesters, its good.

that is not good for me. I have to take this Microbioogy class in Spring quarter which end in June 15th

🙁

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure they said at the interview that all courses must be completed during the winter 2010 semester, since D1 classes are starting in July. They told me I couldn't take any classes during my spring semester, and it ends in June. Have you worked this out with U of M?

That sounds crazy

They did mention in our interview as well that all pre-reqs had to be completed by July 7th (orientation).

At my interview on the 22nd they said that they were still working out the curriculum change, so I'm not sure if they have it finalized yet. I'm sure that they'll notify us as soon as they do. 🙂

They told as me as long the instructor send them the grade afterward, i should be fine.

That's annoying...I'm taking 22 credits right now and quit my job becuase they told me I needed to have everything completed during the winter term. They specifically said at the interview that spring courses were not possible.

Out of curiosity, do you plan on skipping orientation/the first week of class? Or is your microbio prof going to allow you to take your final exam early? It would seem like either of those options wouldn't be too great.

He/she said the class ends june 15, not july 15.

I am sorry to hear that. I was thinking going to other school which not require microbiology. Besides, my major do not require micro. However, my interview at Michigan is pretty late in the cycle (Jan 22) so i don't think i would be in Michigan dental school and that winter semester start early Jan Thats why i have to take class in Spring.

I am still scared though. What if i do not pass Micro? My acceptance will be revoked???

Uh, I can't speak for the dental school, but if you don't have a C or better in all of the pre-req's, then you don't meet the admissions requirements, and yes, they'll revoke your acceptance.

Microbio is definitely important for dental school, and I can't imagine that you're not going to get any of it once you're in dental school. I'd also imagine that if Michigan didn't think that you could pass microbio with whatever your stats are that they wouldn't have accepted you!
