UOP 2009 application process

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
RXFanatic my PCHK date was 11/4/2008 and I have no idea if they do tier 3 interview according to PCHK dates. Yes, they are probably waiting to see how you do in those upper division science classes before coming to a decision if you haven't really taken any yet. And this waiting to hear from pharmacy schools is making me stressed and nervous to :scared:!

Hey Efren,

thanks...my PCHK was 12/1 - supperrr late. Well, hopefully when UOP gets my academic update I will get an interview. By the way, when is your interview?

Thanks!

You are not supper late. Mine is 12/11. I submitted early and supposed to be in tier 2 but one of my transcript is messed up due an unknown reason. That's why my PCHK is supper late. Hope that some good news will come for both of us.

I was suppose to be in tier 2 as well, and something was messed up with my transcript as well. Oh well! Im still crossing my fingers :xf:

gl everyone at the interviews and all those still waiting👍

Anyone signing up for on-campus housing? I can't seem to find the 2009-2010 housing contract that was supposed to be available on the 15th.

I emailed housing last night and they said they're going to get it up "soon" but suggested I fill out a wait-list form instead since housing isn't guaranteed to transfers. They sent me a pdf of the wait-list form... PM me your email and I can forward it to you.

Hmm.. current students living on campus at UOP haven't even registered for next year's housing. So I have a feeling you guys will be on hold for a month or two until they know if current students are signing up for same housing next year.

Hi guys/gals,
Has anyone interviewed or will be interviewing at UOP who's coming from socal or nonlocal regions? which shuttle from the airport (SNJ, SAC, OAK) did you use to get to Stockton? it seems really expensive to even use the shuttles, so i was wondering if you have any advice. thanks!

When I interviewed I flew into SAC airport and took the super shuttle from there. It was pretty pricey (~140 round trip) probably because the campus is about an hour away but I don't think that there are many other options.

Is there anyone else who does not have a file complete date still? I am in tier 3 and everything else in my file has been complete and on the UOP site since November.

Should I contact anyone about this?

My file is complete also since october and i still have not heard anything from them. i am in tier three as well. I guess we just need to wait. there are still couple more interviews date left so just be patient. I will probably call them at the end of this month if i do not hear anything.!

it may be because they have not received grades from academic update. My complete date was 10/31 and PCHK was 12/1. But that is just what I think...

My issue is that, although they have everything I need and it is all completed, the website still does not show a File Complete Date for me. I was just wondering if anyone else has a similar issue...

U should call the school and speak to veronica semler. and if she is not in her office, speak to her secretary and they can assist you too!

Does anyone w/ a late PCHK like mine 12/11 receive an interview invitation? I'm so worried now.

My PCHK is 12/12. I am in the same boat, except I don't even have a file complete date yet.

are they missing any transcripts? Like maybe a community college that you didnt report on pharmcas but you did on the educational background on the UOP supplement?

Also, under status checker, look at every category and make sure there is a date. If there isnt a date next to it, like recommendations, transcripts, etc, then that may be your problem.

I'm guessing they should start making decisions any time soon for those who are deferred/on hold until late January? I believe January 21 is considered late January already.

did they send you a letter saying that they put you on hold for an interview?

i have had no response since I submitted my application. The last thing i got from them was my PCHK letter...and on my status checker it says my file was complete on 10/31...BLAH!

Yea, I received my "on hold" letter way back in September. I submitted my app in July and my PCHK date was early September I think.

...my acceptance into USC for their acceptance into UOP.. i don't want to move out of mommy and daddy's house to go to LA.... =[

i'm still waiting to hear back from UOP... hopefully soon!! my interview date was in November and I thought the letter said I was denied but I guess it's a "hold."

Omg, i would trade with you in a heartbeat, but I technically don't have anything to trade you, hahaha. I'm on hold at UoP too. Maybe you'll still get into UoP? Do you know when we can find out about our status? Is it not until March?

So who's thinking about housing? I don't think dorms are an option for me. I've browsed some apartments online, dunno...renting a house actually seems like an amazing option. I've looked on Craigslist and there's some great deals in nice, quiet areas. Just need a roommate or two to make it work.

Thoughts?

yeah.... i've been looking for apartments and listings online too... and I think it's better to rent a house or a large apartment off campus, and share with a couple of people. I don't think I wanna live in the dorms on campus.... The best I saw so far... was a 3 bedroom house 15 minutes from campus for around $1200 including utilities and rent....

I wouldn't mind splitting the cost between a couple people.... so if you do find something good and need an extra person let me know....

I'm definitely hunting Craigslist and you can find some really sweet deals...3-4, sometimes 5 bedrooms for $1200-1500. I'll be looking for awhile and any of us that are interested in something like that should keep in touch with each other and see what happens. 🙂

I'm not thrilled with the apartment selection in Stockton from what I've seen, this could be a cheaper and more comfortable solution. From what I understand most of the 2nd years stay in houses off campus too.

anyone know how many more interviews uOP will be having if any more? Im still waiting.. i applied in Nov.🙁:xf:

i had my interview yesterday, the other candidates were so nice and friendly. We were all nervous of course, some did stand out from others and some did not, but the key thing is believe in yourself. dont just over hear people saying they do this and that and this and that experience and get scared. just be urself.

the second thing is that i was interviewed by the admission coordinator- veronica. I was so scared when I found out i had her. BUT I HAD THE BEST TIME WITH HER. even if i didnt get in, geting to know her and being honest and open with her was the best experience ever. i have no regrets.

yeah i was there too 🙂 i agree, veronica (I had her too) was super nice and friendly. she kept smiling at me, which i took it as a good sign! i was really impressed by the friendliness of the faculty and students. it was my first interview and i'm glad it was at uop.

good luck to everyone 🙂

just wondering, how did some applicants 'stand out' , isn't all of the interview done on an individual basis?

I saw alot of things the whole day, the way people talk, are they shy or active, hearing peoplle talk about their resume iust little vibes you get it's just my opinion I just kind of got the feeling some really stand out by their appearance presentation etc

For those who already got accepted is it via email or letter

Did you feel like you were one of those who stood out?
I hope the other candidates were just making conversation, and not "bragging" about their resume and accomplishments.
I think adcoms put candidates all in one room with a one way mirror to see how they interact with each other. So with list in hand, they might cross out flirts, slobs, "smirkers" who size up everyone else up and down [jk]

i think we all come from different background, experiences and etc. I was just myself the whole day and I had a really good time meeting people. Of course, some people you will know if they can be your friend and etc by talking to them, and the interaction with people. I hope I made it...they will meet this thursday. and the results is within 2-3 weeks. :luck:

yea i thought it was mail too, but the interview invite was via email ...=X good luck everyone

What are your stats? It seems like I tried to stay as competitive as possible by getting a 3.9 and was still was placed on hold.... and i had volunteer experience and many other things going on! 😡

If I were you, I wouldn't worry other people's stats.

It seems as if your stats will place you high on the waitlist, assuming your interview went well.

I have a question...I was also placed on hold...Does that mean that we will be placed on the waitlist? Or is it possible to receive a rejection letter before being placed on the waitlist?

goodluck to you!

I sent out my transcript for academic update for next day delivery to pharmCAS and 14 BUSINESS days later, they still have not received it.

I contacted pharmCAS and they told me to send it again, and that it would take 10 business days to process and another 4-6 weeks for my GPA to be recalculated!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think UOP will receive it in time since they informed me that I will hear back from them towards the end of January.......how sad.

If you are placed on hold... you can either be admitted, placed on waitlist, or rejected.

...someone correct me if I'm wrong. =]

I'd suggest emailing or calling Veronica and asking if UOP will accept a transcript directly from your school instead of PharmCAS, and then pay the $30 or whatever your school rapes you for the 1-day transcript service.

i had the exact same problem with pharmcas...i sent my transcripts out on jan 6th, i called on the 20th...they still did not receive them...

I know PharmCAS has barely received my three transcripts on 1/21, but they haven't calculated my new GPA yet. I'm so worried that some schools might not invite me for interviews because they didn't receive my academic update on time. :scared: The reason why they received them so late is because 2 of the schools didn't calculate my GPA and post grades, so they didn't send out the transcripts until the middle of January. 😡 Other than that, I'm still waiting to hear from them by sometimes next week, since they did say by late January.

If it makes you feel any better, pharmCAS calculated my new GPA in 10 days from the date they received my last transcript. Using that time frame, you should have your new GPA calculated at the end of next week and hopefully, have your new transcripts sent out on by Feb. 2.

You should receive an email from PharmCAS titled "Your PharmCAS Academic Update has been Verified and GPAs Calculated."

"Your newly entered coursework has now been Verified and your updated application will be sent to your designated schools within one week."

hope that helps a little. Hope you done well on the PCAT. 🙂

Oh thanks for heads up. 🙂 Ah, my neck is still sore from taking the PCAT yesterday.

I also sent mine out on the 6th and called them on the 20th....they told me that they're receiving a lot of transcripts at this time and that it would take up to 10 business days. STILL....it has been more than 10 business days.

Fingers crossed for the second one.

Yeah I just went to visit over MLK weekend and went to a KY related event on the first night. It wasn't the KY house but it was a single home with 4 UOP renters (I think mix of 1 and 2nd years). It was a really nice place in a pretty safe neighborhood.

I also checked out some of the apartments and let me tell you. If you've been to a newer house or remodeled apartment you will have a hard time adjusting to something older. The number one criteria would be to get into a gated community. But even then, in many of these apartments ($600-900) the appliances are super old like from the 70s or you still have to use coin operated. Actually now that I think of it, the dorms use coin operated too ($1.50 load).

I have an apartment hunting guide from UOP passed down from a 1st year I'd be happy to scan and share. PM if interested and I'll track it down for you. For those interested in teaming up for a nice house count me in! My reason for wanting to dorm is to meet people. But hey, a house would be pretty sweet too as long as we can maintain it and agree on living situation (partying etc.) Let me know!

I would be interested in a house as well if I end up going to there (havent made my final decision yet).
