UOP 2010 application

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Have you heard anything from them yet?

Nopes, not yet. I am getting nervous because last year, I received an interview when I was a lot less competitive. I didn't have any pharmacy experience or anything but this year I have a lot more on my application with better essays and letters. I guess this year's applicant pool is stronger.

I am still waiting.

Does anyone know whether or not your profile actually says Tier 1 or not?

On my profile, it doesn't say anything about Tier 1. But, my application complete date was 8/1 and my PCHK date was 9/9.

Anyone that got interviews have "Tier 1 designation?"

Since your file complete date is 8/1, you should be in Tier 1. It looks like some people from Tier 1 already heard back from UOP regarding interviews. I don't think there's necessary an interview just made for Tier 1 applicants except the first few because Tier 2 applicants would not have heard back from them since they're working on Tier 1. I don't think the invite says that you received a Tier 1 interview or anything but correct me if I am wrong.

Last year, I know the first couple of interviews were primarily Tier 1 because they were filled up by Tier 1. When I interviewed last year, there was no Tier 2 because I don't think Tier 2 candidates have heard back from UOP yet. As more people started getting interview invites, the interviews had people from Tier 1 and Tier 2. That's what happened last year. We'll see what happens this year...

No... still hopefully waiting. I wonder if no news is better than bad news.

ZeroCombine... are you 1st or 2nd tier?

aww. I know exactly what you mean. I was rushing home everyday all week to get the mail. I am in the exact same situation as you.

Let me know if you hear anything from them. I'll do the same. Good luck!

I just received a call from my sister (my mail address is at my sister's house) saying that I got an interview invite from UOP and telling me to call them. My sister isn't proficient in English so I'll have to check out the letter to see what it really says when I pick it up after work today.

BTW, I applied and made it to Tier 1.

On the interview invites, when were the letters dated?

My letter was dated 'September 23, 2009".

When I saw the letter and began reading it, I thought it was a rejection letter because the first paragraph didn't say anything about an interview. But onto the middle of the 2nd paragraph in it reads, "The University of the Pacific is pleased to invite you to our campus for an interview!" I have to schedule my interview and that 'it is important that call immediately after receiving this letter to schedule a date." I'll have to call them on Monday since I got the letter from my sister after 5PM. :-(

Congrats and good luck to you!!!!!👍

Thanks for sharing your status. Gives me a little more hope that mines will come soon. :xf:

Congrats! Good to see that my proofreading has paid off at least once. 🙂

I just got my UOP interview invitation!

I am actually pleasantly surprised... didn't think I had the stats for an interview but it is reassuring to know that some schools can look past the GPA.

congrats, cheeseboy!

how bad is your gpa, if you don't mind me asking?

I have a horrible GPA, but turned in my apps for Tier 1. and by horrible, I mean sub-3.0. Everyday I come home from work I rush to get the mailbox to expect a letter from UOP saying "Sorry we cannot grant you an interview."

I don't know whether I should be happy or sad that I haven't seen a letter yet.

A few days ago I almost died opening a letter from UOP. It turned out that it was only a letter telling me that I've completed all the pre-req courses. I wonder what took them so long to send that to me when everything on my status checker is marked 8/1...

I know people with sub-3.0 GPA with got into UOP. Since you're in First Tier, I think you have a good chance. I am sure UOP looks pass the GPA, if you have excellent extracurricular activities and a lot of pharmacy experience, I am sure they'll be impressed. Didn't Veronica say half of the people in first tier received interviews? Just be positive. Good luck! :xf:

Does UOP review everybody before making admissions decisions?

Hi everyone,
UoP is also my top choice and it's nice/and scary at the same time to find out so many people are also interested. 🙂

I received my mail too. However, I was deferred. I'm hoping being deferred is not UoP's nice way of saying 'rejected'... 🙁

Do you know if you are rejected, would they send the rejection mail right away?

Good luck everyone.

Last year, shortly after people received their interview invites, I got the same letter as you. A week or so later, the school emailed all applicants and stated that there were 3 results for the tier 1 people: 1- Interview, 2- deferred, and 3-denied so that they could work on their app for the next year, or pursue other schools this year.

Tier 2 people will most likely get the same info after the Tier 1 interviews.

so does 'deferred' mean you are getting piled into the tier 2 or tier 3 applicants?

I just got my invitation today too (Actually it was on Friday, but my landlady forgot to give it to me). I'm really excited, as I almost did not make it to Tier 1 (I submitted my app 2 hours before the deadline).
My letter was dated 09/23/09, and my PCHK date was 09/17.
For people not from the area (like me), where are you guys planning to stay?

how do we dress to interview?

how do we dress to interview?

I'm going nuts and wearing my Brooks Brothers suit and Cole-Haans, with conservative tie and shirt, probably blue and a blue/white/black tie.

Females, probably a pencil skirt or slacks and a nice blouse.

It's hard to over-dress, it's easy to under-dress.

I am a guy, should i wear a jacket? i am thinking about a nice shirt, pants, shoes, tie to look simple and not too dressy w/ a jacket, and lt is a lot cheaper too

Should females wear a suit jacket? I read on some old threads that most women wore suits to interview.

This I'm not 100% sure about....

I remember someone from the school (a student, not faculty or staff) saying that if you get deferred you'll be reviewed again with tier 2 and again with tier 3 if the review with tier 2 did not result with an interview invite.

You'll definitely know for sure by the beginning-middle of Tier 3 interviews on whether you'll get interviewed....hope that helps.

Hmmm, I thought last year "deferred" meant they'll review it again in January? I forget... I thought the letter specifically says but I am not sure. I am sure Veronica could better assist you with what defers mean and when you hear back from them.

anyone here in tier 2 receive interview invitations?

Yea...I don't have a copy of the letter so I can't say for sure. Veronica is definitely the best person to help you guys with clarifications. Hope I didn't add to the confusion...

I wouldn't do this. You'll stand out as being underdressed. Better be safe and wear a jacket+tie.

I just called and confirmed my interview date with UOP. My interview's on Oct. 16. Hope to see some SDN users at UOP!!! 🙂

i have my item 11, file complete date, and received date blank. what does that mean?

That means you need to call Veronica STAT imo.

i called them a month ago and talked to one of the persons. she said i am fine. Since some tier 2 ppl are getting interviews, i am really worried. i tried to contact veronica but didn't get in contact w/ her. i just emailed her hope to resolve my confusion.

The lack of a received date would bother me most of all...

WHAT?!!!😱😱😱😱
Some tier 2 folks have already received interview invites?!

Oh boy...:scared:

congrats to those already getting interviews! give us feedbacks when you have time :]

most of you have received your letters already, some got the news (interviews) others were defered and some were rejected. I need your input on this. we have a horrible mail system here in my area and I haven't received anything yet. My room mate got his letter already, but I haven't. Should I call the school to verify?

any suggestions will help

If you are uneasy about it.. you should email veronica about it explain to her the situation (i.e horrible mail system). She seems to be very responsive and nice about things. Good luck!

I just did, not sure if she'll respond to me...

If she doesn't respond in a week or so, you can always call to explain the situation on the phone and see if they already mailed something out to you. If they did and it's been awhile and you haven't received it, you can ask if they can tell over the phone or via email. Good luck!

on the status checker, which date does UOP use to decide which Tier you are in

edit: found it
