make us proud boys and girls!!

has anyone in tier 1 NOT gotten any letter yet?

I just received a letter dated "9/28/09" saying I was deferred also!! Damn, what does this exactly mean? They said they will update the status and review my app again and let me know by end of January. Arghhhh so frustrating.

Can someone let us "deferred" ppl know of what happened to the deferred students from the Fall '09 application cycle?? Thanks!!

I'm studying for my first set of midterms at UOP. There are many reasons why someone would get deferred. I'm still not 100% sure why I was deferred, but last year I applied as a Tier 1 applicant, got deferred, interviewed in March, and celebrated 5 days after my interview. Be patient (it's hard...I know). Good luck!

I'm in Tier 1 but still haven't gotten anything. I e-mailed Veronica this morning and she said that all Tier 1 letters were sent out and if I don't hear anything within the next week, ask her again.

I think "deferred" means that you weren't one of the top candidates and they will pass on inviting you for now and review you later.

Has anyone gotten bad news from UOP yet?

According to Veronica (and other students who have previously applied), if you are deferred (from tier 1 or tier 2) you will be review again for tier 2 and 3.

Most people will hear back anytime between January till March.

Help guys!!!!
I just received an email from Pacific extending an interview invitation for Oct 17... Why did I receive an email invite? Here's the bigger problem... I'm taking the pcat on Oct 17...Do you think they will look unfavorably upon me if I ask to reschedule an interview bc of the pcat??? They are definately my top choice but I can't put all my eggs in one basket ya know? Thanks for the help in advance!!

WOW! congrats! It is weird that they would send an e-mail invitation rather than snail-mail. I thought people who get invites have to call to schedule interview dates?

I would call Veronica and tell her about your situation.

I called Lonnie Anderson and just spoke with her about everything. I rescheduled my interview for Nov 14th, because I am taking that PCAT. I asked about the interview VIA email, and she said since I'm in Buffalo, NY, the mail takes forever and it's much faster to send email. I feel that I would have a better chance of being accepted by taking the first interview (bc more seats are available), but I can't take that chance. Hopefully I'm not screwing myself by doing that. Best of luck to everyone though!!!

i think your post was for Pacific Oregon and not UOP (CA). Anyhow, glad to hear that you got it resolved.

I just got my letter. Ive been differed.

now more waiting...

Trunks when was it postmarked?

Omg, I just got a letter in the mail today saying that my application if deferred and will be reviewed again in late January! This is torture. I rather know if I've been rejected or invited for an interview rather than lingering like this =(

You will not be singing the same tune if in January you're given an interview and accepted, I'm sure.

This is my second year applying. My application was turned in and my states "Tier 1" on-line. I quit my job as an oncology researcher to become a pharmacist. I have been doing research in biotech for 15 years, but I really feel that becoming a pharmacist is my calling. I am going to go check my mailbox, just in case!!! 🙂

One saying they are going to send me an email about my prereqs and the second stating what I already know and that is I need to retake a full year of OChem and a full year of Biology plus labs. I am currently taking Ochem and Micro and next semester I will be taking Ochem and Phsyiology. I have to retake them since it has been over 10 years since the first time I took them. Has anyone gotten an interview who still had prereqs to complete, but applied in Tier 1?😕

Yes, but I only have one prereq to finish -- Physics.

So just a question..if our application was deferred and we do happen to get an interview later on, will our chances for getting in be just as difficult as if we were in 3rd tier?

Well, I think now that we have been deferred, our chance of an interview is the same as applicants in Tier 3.

As far as getting accepted after an interview goes, it would be the same as anyone who has gotten an interview

i just got my PCHK dated 10/2/2009, is it an indication for hope? anyone from tier 2 in the same boat?

I just got a letter saying I'm deferred. ::Sigh:: Has anyone been deferred and later accepted? I'm not surprised. My gpa is horrible

Hey, I know it's kinda stupid, but I have a question. I'm from LA and I have an interview with UOP. I don't want to drive, but how do I get from the SF airport to UOP? Is there any train/bus/shuttle available?
Any response would be greatly appreciate.

If you can't rent a car, you could Greyhound from San Francisco to Stockton.

The GHound station in Stockton's in a really unfavorable area and, not to mention, is really, really far from the area w/ UoP, so you'd then be tasked to snag a Taxi from the station to UoP way over on Pershing/Pacific.

You're really, really better off renting a car for a day @ SFO and just driving there.

It's a super-easy drive from S.F. to Stockton, only 2 (IIRC) interchanges and if you're not driving through to 205 at 5 p.m., relatively devoid of traffic.

Thanks for your quick reply. I've never rented a car before, so do I just rent a car outside the airport or should I prearrange prior to the trip?
< I sound like a country pumpkin!>

Bumpkin, I think it is, not pumpkin. Maybe? Shoot, I don't know 😉

Anyway, you can either book a rental car online at like Enterprise.com (Earlier the better) and put in the date, time of your pickup and drop off and location (SFO) or simply rent one from any one of the bajillion rental places at SFO, lol. Its a very good sized airport with a lot of options.

You're assured the best car @ the best rate by booking in advance.

Oh, and congratulations on your interview, sorry for not mentioning that earlier in my haste to jump right into to the answer. 😛

It's bumpkin, I just checked ^^; Gomenasai bad English.
I'm checking out the car rental website right now so thanks!!
As for the interview, I'm nervous like hell as I have never had an interview before......
Oh well, there's a first to everything I guess.

Yep, like renting a car! 😉

Nervous is normal, and what they're expecting. You think they've never given a nervous guy/gal an acceptance letter before?

😉 Relax.

Heyy, I'm a Tier 1 applicant, but I didn't receive an interview invite in the mail until yesterday!! So there's still hope if other Tier 1 applicants are still waiting for their interviews! I scheduled today and my interview is on Oct. 16!

Congrats!!! I hope to meet you there!

Does anyone know about how many applicants UOP view at an interview?

Have you checked flights into Sacramento? The Sac airport is about an hour closer to Stockton and it's pretty much a straight shot down I-5 to the school.

If my memory serves correctly, last year it was usually about 30-40 candidates per interview day.

congrat you, what date will you have your interview, are you in tier 1 or 2?

thanks, i am in tier 2 and calling them right now to schedule my interview. good luck to everyone else

I have a lower gpa than that and got an interview. I think it was because of my personal statement. How is your ps? If you think it is good, don't stress.

😉 Relax.

I wish I have the same confidence as you. But then again, with your stats, I would not worried either. haha. Hope we can be classmates next year! 🙂
