Hello everyone,

I recently began a tutoring role and am considering including it in an update letter, as I have no prior teaching experience in my application. I’d also like to update on my thesis (originally listed as a future activity) and share new patient experiences from my clinical role, especially where relevant to the school’s patient population.

Would it be best to focus solely on new activities or update previously mentioned ones?

Any advice is appreciated—I want to strengthen my application without overloading the committee.

Thank you!

I’d keep it focused on what really stands out. Mentioning the progress on your thesis and sharing some specific patient experiences that align with the school’s focus sounds like a good approach. This way, you’re not just rehashing what you’ve already shared but adding more depth to the areas they know you’re passionate about. It’ll give them a clearer picture of how you’re building on what you’ve already done without overwhelming them with too much detail.

Focus on the new ones. If it's something that could be extrapolated from material you already presented it's not going to be something the committee looks at closely.
