Update Letters for Oct 15th

I am expecting to hear back from a few schools on Oct 15th. Would it be appropriate to send them an update letter before then? I was recently selected as the recipient of a major award at my university.

Tbh, the schools that are going to let you know on the 15th prob already made a decision already given that it is 5 days away.. Can't hurt to send an update though
