hi everyone, just wanted a quick opinion on sending updates. i am writing an updates to the schools and hoping to get an interview. is this a bad time because of holiday season? should i wait till holiday is over and send it or just do it ASAP?

also, how long do you think updates should be? i know there's no specific guideline, but what would you say in term of word limit? please give a rough estimate. thanks!

timing doesn't matter. it's not like they'd give it less attention now than if they received it later. might just be put on hold for a week until after christmas at worst. i'd say sooner is better

however, I'd take care with your letters and make sure each one has a portion directed specifically at that school (i.e. no hand wavy generics). you know... that "fit" thing.

1 page limit. its not a full bio of your past 5 months

Its worth a shot but I think you are late. I was telling people to send updates/LOI's back in november. I think at this point interview season is about over and medical schools' classes are filling up.

I absolutely disagree. Many, many schools interview through March and April. Interview season is far from over.

To the poster, if you're ready, I would send it right now. I feel like there isn't really a benefit to sending it a week or two later.

How about updating them with your fall term grades? I don't think you can do that in November.
