It's late and I'm bored so I thought I'd pose a question I've been going back and forth on. When I submitted my AMCAS in June my lab had just submitted my research for publication, I listed it as submitted in my Activities and that was that. I got word last week that it is now “Accepted and In Press” and will be published in a future issue, so my question is: do I send an update to schools I have yet to hear from, or do I wait it out and hope they interview me so I can tell them all about it once it is actually published. Thoughts? Experiences? Thanks!

I think it is fair to send a letter. An accepted, peer-reviewed publication is a major accomplishment as an undergraduate. You may want to first check the status websites for your schools to make sure there is no update link available. Off the top of my head, I know that FSU, Iowa, and BU allow you to update online.
