So I encountered a little problem with my AACOMAS today. Thanks to Touro-NV, I found out that Physics 2 is not on my AACOMAS even though it is clearly shown on my transcript that I completed it 3 years ago.

I have a couple of questions.

1. I know schools haven't made any official decisions, but does this hurt my application at schools since from their perspective I have neither completed the pre-reqs nor made any indication of my intention to complete the pre-reqs? I did send a transcript to 6 schools, but I don't know if they even review those.. If they do, then I won't worry too much about it.

2. Should I email the schools individually that there was a mistake, and to expect an update from AACOMAS? Or should I just let AACOMAS update everyone and not mention it on my own?

Thanks

i had some stupid mistake on my application. i forgot to include shadowing.

i asked aacomas

"If you saved what you added, the updated data will be sent to the schools and you can view it after the schools receive it.

Thank you."

for grades, i think you have to send aacomas a physical letter (literally mail them) the update. it says somewhere what to do if you want to change the classes you've taken. i might be wrong about what you have to do exactly, but if i remember correctly it's not very easy.

i'm curious why aacomas didn't correct this for you. what if i left out some of my bad grade classes?

Same.. That's why I'm confused how to handle this. They have my transcripts with the class already on it. It's not like I'm adding a new class or even a recent class. I'm irritated at myself for submitting wrong (probably what happened), and for not catching this sooner, but I'm also irritated with AACOMAS for missing it.

Get on the phone and call them. I was confused when I looked at my app and saw Freshman, Sophmore, and Post-Bac without my Junior and Senior years. Clearly I made a mistake but I figured they would have corrected it. I mean I obviously didn't take 90 credits in my sophmore year. I sent them a message and they eventually got back to me saying they corrected it.

Makes me question how hard they look these things over, bet my science GPA could have been much higher if I attempted to include classes I would have liked to but didn't fit the specific guidelines.

But yeah they should have your transcripts and if you point them to exactly where it would be I doubt they will have a problem updating it quickly.

Do this ASAP. Since they already have your transcript, I don't think it should take them very long to make the correction.

This is why I checked everything like 5 times. You did not double check all your entered coursework? Would your GPA improve after you enter this course? I would do it ASAP because schools do look for pre-reqs before giving out invites.

Yeah ACCOMAS I odd this year ... They added a class I swore I had never taken before but they said it was on the transcript, however it was not on my copy.... Very strange

Your best bet is to contact AACOMAS and iron this out with them. The individual schools, even if you send your transcript, won't have the time to help you out. Once AACOMAS is ready to send out the update you can e-mail each school letting them know the situation and to expect an update.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I sent them a message via the application yesterday (also made a phone call but couldn't get anyone on the line). I didn't figure this out until about 20 minutes before I had to start work and I couldn't contact them again yesterday.

Just woke up and found this in my message box.

Physics II has been updated in your coursework with the grade of 4.0A and will be forwarded to the schools in our next weekly mailing.

Do you think I should still call? Is it possible to get them to send the update today?

Yeah you gotta wait until they do their weekly thing. Glad you got it taken care of so fast though.

Alright, thanks for your help. Yea, I'm glad they responded so quickly too especially considering they are probably swamped with verifications right now.

Yeah they will automatically send it to schools as an update, but you can still give the schools a heads up.

+1 If I was going through this, I would definitely notify the school just so they are kept in the loop about your application. Proactiveness is typically appreciated.

Yea I'm going to email them all when I get home from work tonight. Basically "There was an error in my AACOMAS, but it has been resolved and is being sent in their next weekly update. I have already completed the Physics 2 requirement with an "A" despite it not being mentioned initially"

Anyone want to weigh in on my #1 question in the OP?

I think you are fine, I am pretty sure they will still consider you even if you don't have one of their pre-reqs (or they think you don't). I am applying at Michigan and they gave me a list of classes I have to take before I enroll. I am assuming that's what most schools would do. If you do get accepted, they will ask for a copy of your transcript and everything should be fine then because you have all the pre-reqs.
