So I have finally made my decision to retake my MCAT on the 7th. I have been studying during the summer, but wasn't 100% sure of the retake until now.

My score from last year is 24) 9ps 6vr 9bs. My VR is up to an 8-10 depending on practice. hopefully I can deliver on the real exam.

My gpa is 3.66 for both cumulative and science.
I have great experiences and letters. I sent in primaries to 30 schools but decided to hold off on secondaries for most, until the MCAT retake now.

Need advice. I am updating schools on MCAT retake, my new position as an ED scribe and I have been shadowing a DO again spending nearly 8 hrs/week. (he will be writng me a letter too in addition to the DO letter I already have).

What do you guys think? I know everything is hung up on my MCAT score. With the few places i did send in secondaries (LECOM-erie and florida, OHIO, pikeville, Oklahoma, LMU) I haven't heard anything yet 🙁

I haven't heard back from the majority of the schools I applied to either.. it's still very early in the cycle.

In your update include any classes you plan on taking in the fall, and any volunteering you are currently doing.

Thats what everyone keeps saying, that its still early in the cycle. but with the MCAT retake, i'll be super behind since scores wont be out until october.

Should I send an AACOMAS update, in addition to an email/letter of interest to schools I've sent secondaries to?

I thought AACOMAS only sends updates when you have new grades? Also, stop sending letters of interest. They're meaningless pre-interview and just make you look desperate.

I guess you have a point. so just title it as updates and list the experiences, time and a brief explanation?

Considering you already sent them letters of interest I would wait until you hear back from them or get your fall grades, whichever is first.

I'm pretty sure that AACOMAS will send an REVISED primary every time you change something online with the rest of the releases every Tuesday morning. I would just update your online application and let AACOMAS send your revised primary.

I had new MCAT scores post last week so I sent emails to all of the schools I applied to, to make sure they knew to expect a revision from AACOMAS.

I am starting a research associate position in the emergency department at a medical center in about a week....should I update schools about this...if so what is the best way to do it?

So I looked into it, and if we update via aacomas, then the schools will get out updated reports every Tuesday.

I will be sending email updates to schools I have sent secondaries to because they are currently reviewing my file. I have not sent any letters of interest yet (MEDPR is correct, they aren't effective until waitlisted). I have been told by a counselor that the best thing to do is continue updating throughout the application cycle.

Thanks for the response...so is the consensus send an update email or add it to AACOMAS? I don't start till the end of the month but I know what my dudties will include, should I wait til I actual begin working to update or update now since I was already accepted into the RA program?

I emailed schools to expect new MCAT scores; but if it were something substantial, like if I get another publication, I'd send an updated letter with my signature so they can add it to my file.

So I recently got hired as an SI (supplemental instructor) at my community college, but due to budget constraints (blah blah blah) I can't officially start until the week of 9/17. Is it appropriate for me to mention this at interviews that occur on or before 9/17 or do I need to actually have started it to say anything?

At an interview it would be appropriate to say what your future plans are for this upcoming year. They absolutely want to know what students will be doing during the year prior to (hopefully) matriculating to their school. Mention it that you will start on the 17th and explain your why you chose to do this (good experience, or maybe you need the money), and what your duties will be.
