UPenn MD/PHD?

Hey All,
has anyone who applied to Penn's MD/PhD program been accepted only to the MD program?
I applied there as an MD/PhD but was waitlisted. Am I being evaluated only as an MD/PhD candidate or am I in the running for an MD acceptance?
According to the office, I should be in the running for both - but given that the MD/PhD office works independently from the MD office, I find this a little hard to believe.
Can any applicants or current students confirm?
