I am coming down to phillly b/w 14-16 of august. I already moved in. Chestnut Hall gave me the keys on the july 15th which was pretty cool. But i am still going to come down there before 14th. If you guys get down there and realized you forgot something or you need something you cant find there, dont hesitate to call me and i will be glad to bring it to you from NY. First thing I'll have to do before going to PENN is to take my DAT😱 I'm taking a Kaplan class during the fall semester, and I am gonna take the DAT over winter break. I was just wondering if any of you would be kind enough to share you DAT scores? I looked in the ADEA's Guide to Dental Schools, but I would like to know some numbers that people actually got. I just received an Email from Corky regarding dexterity in th Dent sim Lab. Do you guys know how many Dent sim units we have? I don't remember seeing them during my interview tour.
 
During my interview I think they only had 1 or 2 and they said they didnt use them very much. But, i was talking to someone, I forgot who and they said they were being redone, and we are gonna be the first class to fully use them, so unfortunatly I cant really answer your question, but I assume we have quite a few since we are supposed to be using them pretty regularily.
 
Yes, we will be the first class to exclusively use the Dent-Sim's. It was ironic before that the Dent-Sim's were developed and tested at the University of Pennsylvania, but were not a crucial part of the curriculum. However, this will change for our class. In fact, we will use them first, and then the second year students will use them (so we will have to teach them, so use this for black mailing rights!) :hardy:

Well i just email Corky back and now i cant wait to start the simlab!!! I saw a picture int he perspectous Penn sent and was wondering abt it since i never saw a simlab when i interviewed there. In fact they showed us a lab in the basement which was archaic but still cos its penn!

So do you guys think we should make our "patients"?

I think Ill call my simlab patient "Bubba"

what's up everyone. I hope you're all packed up and ready to go. just wanted to let you all know that i'll be in philly Aug. 10th.

I had to scramble up to philly earlier this week to find a place b/c on campus housing declined me. Anyway...all the better. I'll be in Chestnut Hall...not too far from those in Chestnut Arms. unfortunately, the last unit in Chestnut Arms was rented just before my appointment. but feel free to drop by.

Finally INTERNET. Sorry guys i havent posted for so long but I didnt feel like sitting in the d school waiting for a half hour to post cuase snd is running so dam slow. Anyway me, Ankush and Eric are already trying to hook up our own pre-orientation events!
But I know most oof us Goobie, Hemant, Ankush and Eric will be attending the pre-orientation events, esp the bar hop for me Ankush and Eric 😀 .


PS you wants amazing our tread has the most pages and the most number of people looking at it than any other tread on the pre-dent page!

Hey kids,

Scandalous where you been?!?!?

Last ngiht we hit up this new-wave sushi joint called "pod" which turned out to be pretty decent.....the conveyer belt style sushi bar was tight, just don't let me and scandalous sit there too long.

As for the pre-orientation events I think we're all gonna go to some of them, not sure how many but definitely some of them. Liya don't worry just get here safely, because there is plenty of time to get to go out..........Besides the first few weeks won't be too demanding.....I hope not at least😀

So there it was our first week of school. IT WAS AWESOME!!! Everythign i expected and more. We have the best class so far, friendly, fun and smart too. Our avg GPA for this class was 3.53. Cool right? Well, anyways just wanted to get us back on top on this forum. Will keep you updated🙂 Ciao everyone😍

Diddy, kid the time has come to get crazy again. This week we got to bust it up in class. Yo, BC lec tomorrow, and I still don't know where to go..............damn maze.

Well, I have to admit the first week was hectic but man, the people in our class are spectacular. Especially, all of the SDNers and their friends. As for the girls, there are 19 more girls than guys here....

We are the class of 007, you know.

They are from all over, Russia, Taiwan, India, Japan, Korea, Africa, Middle East, and galore.

I think we have a guy from Alaska in our class...wow. almost the North Pole.

Well, Operative Dentistry and the Simulation Lab are so worth it. Even if I am getting 50% on cavity preparations. We here at PENN used high speed drills with 330 drill bit our second day of class. That was fun.

Anyways, Biochemistry and Histology & Embryo tomorrow.

Liya, NC2PA, Scandalouslj, PENN Diddy, Cobecana, and my compadre Shootin4Par....its great to finally meet ya.

I'll post some pics up of the SDN crew soon enough.

Well the first official week of classes is over.

All in all, classes are great, DentSim (simulation Lab) is a ton of fun, a little fustrating but gives you the feeling of being in a clinical setting (minus a few obvious differences). Without a doubt there is a leap from undergrad, but for at least this week they are easing us into the program. Next week we pick up an additional course: Gross Anatamoy Lecture.

We are currently taking: Biochem. Histo/Embryo, Intro to Med, Community oral health, and dentsim. Unlike other schools we're not of a semester system. We have classes starting and ending at all different times throughout the year. It's interesting, but we'll keep you posted on how it goes.

And yes, there is an excellent work and life balance. . . . . . Scandalous can expound on that a little.......🙂
